Dawn, the best POC in the world!

Dawn is our old friend from 2010.  She is former AF now working as a civilian in the sandbox.  The nature of her job gives her contact with many of our military personnel and she loves our pillowcases!

When she contacted me a couple of months ago, I said "yes" to more pillowcases.  

Dawn is the person who took the photo of the soldiers holding the "Heads at Ease" sign.  I decided to

make a  thread just for her because so many thank you notes have come in from her work for us.

We have sent 230 in 2 waves this time:

I am a soldier in AFG and received a pillow case from you in the mail.
It was quite a work of art and service to soldiers in a combat zone.  I have been using it and sleeping well.  Thanks for your service to the servicemen and women in the center of Afghanistan.

Thanks for your note.  I believe there are purple and blue flowers on the pillowcase.  As an infantryman, it probably would not have been my first pick based on color:), but I laud the effort and have used it every night.  Sounds like a great ministry.  I presume from your note that you are a Christian?  I am as well.  Were it not for the King, I don't know where I would be.  Thanks for your ministry and that is great news regarding your son.  Thanks to you and him for his service and thanks for returning the message.  I know you helped blessed a lot of folks here, so well done to you and your team.  Take care of those students - the soldiers and sailors of tomorrow.

A wonderful package of pillowcases arrived today in our shop. Thank you very much - very thoughtful and very practical.  It will go on my bed tonight.

I am a US Navy Commander and I am part of an Intelligence organization providing support to our forces here in Afghanistan.  We are located at North Kabul International Airport - the north side of the base is set up as a NATO base.  We work alongside forces from 44 other nations - some you wouldn't think of - Mongolia, Singapore, Lithuania - the list goes on.

I think we are making a difference - saving lives of US personnel, and also Coalition troops and Afghans. The job is very rewarding.

It is wonderful to see the support we get from folks back home.  Thank you.

Ma'am

I hope this e-mail finds you. Thank you, so much for sending the pillow cases to the US Service members here in Kabul, Afghanistan. It was such a pleasant surprise when the mail run came and there was something for us. I selected the yellow pillow with the sunflowers and its absolutely beautiful. 

I really don't get much mail from the US anymore because my wife and two children (ages 18 months and 2 years 6 months) are stationed in xxxxx awaiting my return from this harsh climate. The sand storms are not so bad, they only happen 4 times on average a week, and the 95 degree temperature usually last till 9pm.  

Please tell the good folks back home not to forget about us. You all are the pillar of our strength during these long an weary days. We are fighting for the U.S of A and its citizens. 

On a personnel note.  I was just starting to hit the rock bottom, when your package came in the mail. Words cannot tell how much this meant to me and my band of brothers Terry and Dennis. 

Terry and Dennis are my two best friends here in Afghanistan nick named, "the Nerf herders". They loved their pillow cases so much. Dennis, really tried to fight back the tears and Terry...well he simply had a breakdown. It's been months since his last post card which came from me, so he would not think folks back home didn't care.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts, as we lay our heavy heads on these wonderful pillow cases, made by you all.
