Major Doug is with the brigade.  He said that anytime we want to mail pillowcases, he will make sure that they get to soldiers.

We mailed 120 in November and that's where the postcard came from a week ago.

We are planning to mail again this weekend.  If you have any to mail, contact me for his address.  Here's what he has said recently about the pillowcases:

Sue,
First of all, I want to tell you THANK YOU for all you have sent and done for this unit. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed and the guys really appreciate it.

As to the pillowcases, please send them to me and I will distro accordingly.

You're the best!

Respectfully,

Doug

Thanks!

Hi ladies,
I got this email from Major Doug this morning when I got up. I was so tickled and had to write back and tell him that I knew that 138 had been mailed since last Friday. Then I confirmed with 2 other moms for another 40. I have 1 more mom to check on. that makes 178! awesome job crew! Here are some more pictures from Dawn:

Dear Sue,

We received 65 pillowcases today from Heads at Ease. They could not have come at a more perfect time. I have been working with my mother-in-law's church and they have been sending blankets. Perfect pairing of donations!

I spoke with the chaplain today and I think we are good to go for now. I believe we will probably need some more in the April timeframe.

Thank you so very much for your support!

Sincerely,

Doug
Everyone does such a nice job. I love the motorcycle pc, and is the other one Tigger?? I love Tigger. I couldn't resist buying some Winnie the Pooh material the other day.
Tamara, I'm with you. I think the motorcycle is great. Good eyes ... I had not picked up on Tigger. My son thinks I'l like Tigger and has given me a stuffed Tigger and a Tigger t-shirt. I particularly like Eeyore. I look forward to seeing your Pooh PCs.

Dawn, your PCs are great! They look so crisp and nice and I love the heart. I looked for a white fabric marker but couldn't find one. The only thing I found was raised white glitter stuff. That wasn't what I wanted.
Thanks ladies! I like tigger as well (thanks Maryellen)...and the pigs on motorcycles, I couldnt resist! It made me laugh!

I started sewing on the hearts, but the marker it soooo much easier. My mom bought that for me at JoAnn's I believe.
I couldn't find the white one either. And I went to Joanns so settled for a pack of primary colors. ahvent tried them yet.

Delete Here's a wonderful thank you note:

My name is Misty and I am a Major in the Army. I am stationed in Michigan. I have been in the Army for over 14 years, this is my second deployment. I have 2 boys, ages 11 and 7.

I am deployed over here in Afghanistan supporting 5/2 Stryker Brigade. I received one of your pillowcases and I just wanted to say thank you so much. Mine was made by Liz, an Army mom. It is wonderful and everynight I lay down I think of the people who support us back home.

My oldest son Tyler was born at Madigan in June 1998. The nurse with me was nurse Kathy, I remember her to this day. So, Madigan has a special place in my heart.

Anyways, thanks so much. I redeploy to the states for Easter so I cannot wait. Not much longer now. Have a wonderful day and thank you for making mine better.

Letters like these make it all worth
I am pretty sure that this comes from Major Doug's groups:

Dear Heads at Ease,

A fellow roommate from another unit received a box of pillowcases and
was kind enough to share. I was one of six individuals in my unit who
arrived two months early to prepare our site for the arrival of our
unit. I picked one that Shirley made that was mini squares of orange,
green and reds. It brightened my room and every one of my days knowing
someone took the TIME to make something and send it. A week or so later
she had a few more and offered me another before she passed it to
another unit. I chose another, this one "Liz-Army Mom" made from the
Madigan's Neuro Department in Ft. Lewis, WA. Everyone's caring work and
thoughts made me not only smile (the 10 dollar green pillow cases
sometimes available if you make it to the PX, just aren't as
brightening,) but have a restful night too.

Again, thanks for everything you do!
Heather
