Michele, Mike's mom called today. She is working away in the St. Louis area getting a couple of schools ready to start to sew pillowcases!

She has some church groups that will donate the fabric. What a great training this will be for the students.

Kelleypen also has her school making the pcs also!

Kathy in Tucson is working on her school to see if they can make HAE a sewing project as well.

Carolyn K has talked to the home ec teacher at her daughter's school about making them too!

Any other school groups out there?

How about posting some pictures, we'd love to see them.

Wow! I am impressed. Looks like we may be "put out of business"! This is also a great way to return our young people to patriotism!
Not out of business, but the business of teaching the children how great our country is. And that the only way for America to remain free, is for America to remain strong.

and we do that thru our military!
Comment by Michele 1 hour ago Delete Comment Sue - the school project was AWESOME and a huge success! They made 100 pillowcases - I am taking pictures of all of them and will send them to you. They all turned out beautiful - and they really look professional (better than some I've received from those who've been sewing for years!)

They were SO creative - I sent you an email with a link to the story. The news was there and they ran it on the 6 o'clock news, but their online article doesn't have the video posted. They may do it for the 10 o'clock news, I'm not sure.

The school will be making Heads at Ease their fall and spring semester service project - so we can look forward to more from these wonderful students.

My nephew will be deploying in June, and his sister (my niece) was one of the sewers in the class. She presented him with his today.

The fabric drive netted about 130+/- yards of fabric, and the students cut the fabric themselves, and most all of them did "piece pillowcases" - they are absolutely great!

Be sure to check your email for the link. I am going to try and get a copy of the video if at all possible.

Hope you have a great time with sailor son!!
I am taking individual photos of each pillowcase, for the students to indicate which pillowcase is theirs, and when I have them completed, I will (attempt) to put together a scrapbook and slide show. (THIS may take some time... you know me and photos and uploading, and adding captions, etc.) LOL LOL LOL All of this new technology gets the better of me, these days... especially with this dang new computer.

I just think these turned out absolutely beautiful.
Those are great Michele, I love all the combinations they used!
Super job, Michele!! What is the red, white, blue tab on some of them?
Michele, Those are lovely.
They are beautiful! She told me the tab is so the pcs can be hung up in their room when they come back or now if they don't want to use that.
