I'm going to be keeping track of our members stash numbers for Sue. So please send me the number of pillowcases in your stash and whether they are for males or females. I'll try and update the numbers as often as possible, so let me know when you mail any out or add more to your stash. I'm hoping this will help Sue know what we have available for future groups.

This is just a general overview of stashes. Some of my feelers are beginning to "roost". I like to be prepared for what we have available. I have tried to keep up with this, then I get busy and let it slide.
Lyn offered to help me today. I know some of you have just posted your stashes on the March thread, but would you put here what you have MINUS what you said you'd mail to Haiti.

Here's my count. And yes, I do have them divided into separate boxes so I can keep track. I used to spend too much time sorting thru to find a female etc.:
angels 34 (5 are ready for an applique, but I don't have to do it. those 5 could be generic)
generic 165
female 68
duplicates 34 (I have more of 1 of the same print. most are generic. I keep them separate)
Air Force 4
Marines 4
Sport team 1 (U of Michigan)

current total is 310. AND no I didn't make them all. In fact, I probably only made about 10 of them. Have some cut out though haha.

Great idea, Lyn. Be sure to pick up the numbers from the Haitii group. I'll count mine up, pitiful as the number is and let you know tomorrow. This will help so much!

Hi Lyn, As of tonight I have 4 males, 2 females, 7 generic done. This is in addition to the Haiti group.

I have in my stash ---- no duplicates

3 pink with roses and hearts
8 general (2 light houses, 2 route 66, 2 shells, and 2 nautical symbols)

After the 30 for the Haiti group I will have:

10 generic

Just so we are all on the same page for counting, Generic/general to me means: everything including Navy prints.
I do not count separate males unless it says "man" on it. The reason I am specific about that is because I got some in the mail from a Florida contact, fabric looked masculine until I read all the little notes. And they said woman kind of stuff. Real cute, but I was surprised.

does this make sense? I wouldn't separate sports theme, but do separate the teams. Casue sometimes I get requests for a certain team. I have to be organized or I spend why too much time looking for a certain pc "that I just know that I've seen or was it just fabric?" Now, I can go to the labeled box and there it is.

I have kept the angels separate cause I would use them for another medical group. BTW, I am working with someone on another medical group, but don't have all the details as yet.

And we can separate out the Navy ones too. Because that is specific. It would be a few days before I can get to that.

Lyn, you let us know how much detail we should have. We've talked about different themes for groups, so just let me know how you want to count these. And at the risk of sounding dumb (I was a tow headed blonde as alittle girl, if we count males, what is a male? please clarify what you all think is a male.

Sue, I'm counting as male the pcs that are not obviously girl pink, girl messages or lovely lavendar. The males ones have tools, trucks or something that reminds me of a little boy. I also add my generic ones in the male group because we usually have more males than females. I have Navy and other services in with the males, unless they are obviously femine. I've been seeing more and more of them lately. As you can see above, I'm pretty much listing them with the descriptions that are sent to me. Then the individuals can answer any questions you have when the time comes. I don't have enough room in my house to separate the pcs into more than two groups. Hope this helps

BTW, I am not including the Haiti group in this discussion because I didn't want to get too confusing. These are the stash numbers for future groups. I'll keep editting as we send future groups out and more pcs are made.

Talk about male ... did anyone watch Ian Poulter in the golf match play this weekend. The final day he was all pink ... pink pants and pink sweater, but then he always wears wild clothes. :-) I run my pcs by may favorite female-o-meter (dear hubby). Orginally nothing looked female to me and now everything does. I guess it is perspective sometimes.

Idle question: when sending to a mixed group is it better to send 100 "male/generic" and 80 "female" or is it better to send 120 "male/generic" and 60 "female." Here's my logic: if the distributor puts them all out on a table for people to pick and choose, what happens if some of the females choose a generic one. When you get to the end, there could be males left but all "female" pillowcases. I know that there have been some I clumped into the male category that I might have chosen over the female ones if given a chance. I think the real "girly-girl" ones will be chosen by females that really like girly things. But there will be some who like other things as well. (Hey, I was a tomboy! I much preferred cub scout crafts to girl scout crafts.)

Dori, I think that most of the time the female ones are pretty obvious. But I never send 100% of the females as girly/ pink ones. There are always a few that are very female but about half of them could be used by a guy. I had a special request once for a sponge bob square pants pillowcase from a sailor's mom. She asked that it go with the pink sheets on his bunk. Some guys have a great sense of humor, so I never worry about the male/female thing.

BTW, My son has a pink tee shirt that says."Go ahead Laugh, This is Your girlfriend's Tee Shirt!" He also has one that says "Real Men Wear Pink".

I have a "Pink It, Sink It" t-shirt given to my by my grandsons. One of their competitors in sports has a "Pink day" in the fall. Everyone wears pink and the socks of the football players are pink. It is fund raiser for breast cancer. So the grandsons' school decided to have a pink night and everyone bought these t-shirts and wore them to the basketball game. There was a group that was competing in another sport, perhaps wrestling. When the guys weren't busy, they would slip on their t-shirts and run over to the ball game. I thought it was neat. Our son says the stadium is a sea of pink. Actually, mine has "survivor" on the back ... almost 20 years!

Lyn, that's how I describe my generic too. So let's standardize the counting. Your call to call them either male or general.

I have lots of avon boxes that I store this stuff in with paper labels. I just spent way too much time looking for things.

Dori, I was a tomboy myself, so girly frilly is not my thing either. Look at the January pictures of that hot pink and green one-love it. don't care much for pink, except hot.
I would not send all 80 of girly. And like you both said, many prints could be for a male. some from the quilting group are floral, but blues and browns. I figured that men like to garden too.

And a sailor on the NY asked Ally for purple. so alot of ladies must like that color too.

And if we do a whimsy theme for Haiti, then we have alot of room there cause they will all be "cutsy".
