The USS Abraham Lincoln will be deployed for Christmas and has given approval for the ship to receive pillowcases while on deployment.   That will be 5,000 or more strong.

The main postings for this project will be in the Lincoln group under the thread called "The Lincoln Family Love Pillowcase Project".

I will update here as well so you don't have to join the Lincoln group.

Let us know what you can do to help us get the ship done!

I have some Angel fabric. Actually, its kittens as Angels. If you think it is appropriate, we could use it for the medical unit. I have a wonderful lady at the fabric store who is keeping an eye out for more Angel fabric for me. I also still have those Angel embroidery patterns.
Sue, I still have some angel fabric.
Sue, I will ask my brother about numbers in squadrons. I have also asked my granddaughter about that.
Ladies, thank you for your support. I do not want this to be a burden for anyone. That's why I will do my son's squadron, unless it's huge. I just emailed him and asked.

It is certainly an interesting project. The Lincoln moms are coming on board and I think the Everett moms will be able to recruit from that area too. Which they will need to do.

I believe we are only planning to do pcs, that is plenty!
Sue, like Kim, I am hoping to do Steph's squadron who will be leaving on the 21st with the Truman. Don't think I'll be able to help on this project.
Oh brother - I just heard from Steph - there's over 200 in her squadron. Sigh. So much for pcs.
ME is right. The Lincoln moms are very specific that they want to do the pcs for Christmas. Which will give me the time to make their's. I am waiting on numbers.

But we could do your daughter's squadron before then. And hey, Ally did want to do a Christmas in July theme! How about that? I have about 10 Christmas/snowmen already made-see that's only 190 to go ahaha. And Yankee's mom just said she got some Christmas fabric and I have more Christmas/snowman fabric.

Donna, I like it., How about you? You and Ally could work together on the coordination. In July, we should be done with Ft Hood, especially if we mail in the middle or end of the month. And the ship would be out for a month or so already and would be ready for something fun. And if it dosne't get done until Augus, we'll call it Christmas in July, well August, or Merry Christmas early.

Donna, here is a homework assignment for you. There are lots of rules about sending a ton of packages to an individual. We need specific numbers, with male/female breakdown. If there are 225, then that is about 7.5 boxes of 30 each. that's not too bad, but I think she needs to talk to her commander, tell what she'd like to do and get permission! that is so important.

We can't take on the whole ship, but could do her squadron. also Tamara, this is when the flannel is good to be used.

the Lincoln PC asked how many medical. I told her maybe 200. And they don't have to be angels, but again, I still have 29 angel pcs from the winter. I will hold them for this unit.
Maybe now I can make a pillowcase with my frog flannel!
I like the Christmas in July thing! I found some Christmas Beach fabric. So cute. surf boards and sand with Santa hats, etc. Will see If I can find some more of it as I only got a small piece of it. Which I've made a couple pcs out of and in my stash.
Yippee...we got in some Christmas material at the store I work at on Saturday's....will get some off to the sewers!!!
okay, just heard from my son and he thinks there is 250 in his squadron. but I will need to get a firm count. I will see how it goes over the summer for me and sewing, but I may need to get some help.

no word on the firefighter unit.
Ya know what, Sue?
I am "so easy" that we do NOT have to do "Christmas in July". It was just an idea at the time.
So we can use our Christmas themed fabric for this ship.
No biggie...you know me!
