USS William P Lawrence (DDG 110)

I had a really fun way to begin my day and March 1st!  An email from a MC asking this: 

How do you decide where to send the pillow cases? I am currently deployed aboard the USS William P. Lawrence. 2 years ago I was aboard the Stennis where we received many pillow cases and I saw how it raised the morale of the crew and I was interested in seeing if we could do the same for this
ship.

Of course, I wrote right back and said "YES".  She got the permission from her XO and we are good

to go.  

We need 250 and there are about 48 females.  I would like to do this ship in 1 wave and would love to

mail March 6 - 9.  If you are able to mail some, please let me know!  This is what we have so far:

These went out today, they are the command and the POC pillowcases. I want to thank Lyn for helping me get these done when my machine went down with a tension problem. The bands were done by Lyn and I did the bodies and sewed them together.

Sailors were very excited! They wanted me to thank all of you for thins

Got this e-mail yesterday morning:

Thank you so much for the thoughtfulness of making this pillowcase. From me and all of my shipmates it was an awesome gift. I will put this on my rack tonight and pray and thank the lord for the good people out in this world that are thinking about us in the middle of the ocean. From the bottom of my heart this brought tears to my eyes for the picture of the little girl that I got. I am intending on emailing her next. I would like to keep in touch and we maybe could become email pals. My name is Heather. Once again thank you for supporting the Military and thinking about all of us out here just doing our job. May God bless you.

I don't know if you remember me as it's been quite sometime since I have been on NavyforMoms.com but I understand the Head at Ease group recently adopted the USS William P Lawrence DDG-110 for their pillow case program.



Our son re-enlisted last year and changed commands, he is now part of the USS Lawrence's crew.  They are out on their maiden deployment and a long one at that and I am sure the crew will feel so special to be receive their pillowcases.



I invite each of your team members to "LIKE" the USS William P. Lawrence facebook page, today they started posted photos of the crew with their pillowcases.  I am sure they will all sleep a little sweeter tonight with your thoughtful gifts under their head!

                     On behalf of Engineering Electrical division, Engineering department, USS WILLIAM P. LAWRENCE (DDG 110), I wanted to thank you for making the pillow cases that were in turn mailed to us.  My division maintains the all 60 Hz electrical power systems and equipment onboard our guided missile destroyer.  My people work around the clock, and it’s great that they have one more thing to look forward to when they are finally able to rest.  Again, thank you very much, and God bless you for your gratitude for our service.

Your pillowcase found a home onboard William P. Lawrence DDG-110.  It is the Navy’s latest built destroyers. I wanted to reach out and say thank you for the pillowcase I received recently. It really means a lot to have someone do something special like that for someone they don’t even know.

I was also surprised to see where you are from. I am from Sacramento and my parents live in Natomas. Also my significant other is from Roseville . Not sure if you have heard of the Salon “Nails by Kendal” in Lincoln  but I know Kendal really well, so it was a pleasant surprise to see that you are from so close to home.  Once again, thank you very much for your generosity and your care.
