While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Who do we choose?
I'll tell you how I have been doing it since January. I did the groups from Molly's adopt a sailor. Then in April, I heard about 4 Air Force guys in Aghanistan who didn't get any mail. So thru my friend's daughter, I sent them each one.
In May, Molly's group wasn't doing an additional group, as they were taking 2 months to do the Seabees, but I couldn't let Memorial Day month go by. So HAE adopted 4 groups on our own.
I've sent some to injured sailors, some to special friends of mine and as of last week, to all branches of the services.
I've gotten requests from many people and some I have searched on my own. I have a large sewing team in Tucson. And several have asked about doing their family members.
So this is where I am at and what I am thinking and I would like some input from you.
1. I really want to do all branches of the military, not just sailors.
2. I really want to keep it to deployed or injured military.
3. I am interested in doing Molly's groups if we are able.
4. I am interested in doing my crew's family members unit IF they are deployed overseas.
I feel that if you are a crew member and sew, then you can make your child a pillowcase and send it if they are in school or just stationed around the country. I know how special these are.
My son still has the set that I made for him on his deployment (he has 2 matching ones, cause I sent one to his wife at the time. Unfortunately the marriage didn't survive deployment).
This whole project has been done on donations. I am not in a financial position to fund it on my own and have asked for help from my family and friends since I started in January.
AND I've said from the beginning, that I would continue to do this as long as I have help with the sewing, and money for fabric and shipping. And the Lord has blessed beyond my wildest dreams.
In January, I thought 1 month maybe 2. Now 9 months later, we have made and mailed 1,109 pillowcases to all branches of the service and all over the world.
They are not for sale. They are a gift to our wonderful military.
If someone asks me for 1 or a bunch, I send out the HAE letter that my friend wrote. If someone wants to make a donation, wonderful.
I have had to become careful in my responses and make sure that people requesting understand that this costs lots of money and that it is done by donations.
I have tried really hard to talk in the "we" cause I view us as a team. But also know this. If a mom/crew member can't fulfill what they have commited to for a group (and life happens), then it falls back to me. That is why I am cautious about numbers or trying to take on too much.
So all that said, I would love to know what you all think. See, I have been reminded by my husband, that I am not Superwoman. -haha.

Firstly I don't know your husband, but I disagree with him. YOU ARE A SUPER-WOMAN! What a great program you have started! Be proud of the service you (all) are doing. I would love to get started and involved in your group. I have a sailor serving in Italy. -

I would also love to do everyone but I know I can't. I probably can't keep up with many who are sewing I know last month I committed to a given number and had a goal to do more. Physically I could not do the goal and I am having to accept the fact that I have to draw the line somewhere. So when I hear suggestions for many big groups, I panic ... because they are all worthy and deserving. I am also financially limited in what I can do. I so appreciate the fabrics that have been donated to me by you and Donna.
As I have done in the past, I will continue to have a significant number before I give a commitment and it may be a moving target ... upwards and not back. My goal is to someday get a month ahead. :-)
I concur with the idea of doing the deployed, sick and injured. I have no problem with doing all branches of the service. I don't want to be in charge of picking the groups. I'll just send them where you tell me to send them.
I'm rambling but do want you to know I support your direction. -
