Medicmom--I am so glad to hear your son is well and that communication is so good. Yeah! Does a mom's heart good to see their face at every possible opportunity. Happy chatting!
I never thought of it that way Linda K. I am so used to thinking of him as a corpsman attached to a Marine unit that I forget he is technically a sailor. LOL
I have to share with you gals. I have been blessed to be able to chat with my son who is deployed via FB practically every other day right now. He's at their home base so he is bored and very homesick and loves chatting it up with his mom. I love it. I was chatting with him today and the goof ball said that he got to witness his first dust storm. I told him that they can be cool to see if you aren't in it. His reply......Oh mom I was right in the middle of it. It was fun. Then he said he couldn't wait for his first sand storm. Who in the heck is this child? I cannot believe that I have a son who was excited to be in the middle of a dust storm and can't wait for his first sand storm. Such a goofy kid. Things are going good for him though. Not as bad as he thought. Just bored.
Sounds good to me. I am planning on staying. I could stay there. All sounds good to me.
I'm in Texas for a few more months, but I'll be back early in April, so I might be able to make it. Once you settle on a hotel, someone should call and ask for a group rate/block of rooms. Most will give you some kind of discount. Even a small discount is better than none! To reserve a block, you don't have to put money down, just tell everyone the cut off date for the reservations to get the discount.
Oops, the $98 is if you do an advanced purchase (non refundable) or it is $109. I will book this for now at the $109 and then change it if you girls choose another hotel. Let me know!
This hilton is only $98 a night. They have a Bennigan's attached to it. I stayed here years ago for business. I guess I should book it. At least if you book it thought their website, there is no money down. I have a fellow Navy mom who wants to come with, too. So for now, I say we meet at the Bennigan's at the Springfield Hilton around 12 p.m. If anyone has any other suggestions, I am open. Then if a few of us stay here we can hang out that night, too at the bar.

Somewhere that has drink specials. . I mean what??? LOL I think it'd be fun to stay at the same hotel. I don't have to stay at a fancy hotel either. Not a rat hotel, but it doesn't have to be fancy for me. I may see if my sister wants to come also. She went to a Missouri get together with me and had a good time. As far as restaurants, the only food I don't really like is fish -- but if it's deep fat fried it's okay. hahahaha
Sounds great, then April 20th is the day! Now where would we like to meet? I looked up the Springfield tourism and there are a lot of restaurants. What would be a good place where we can sit and talk? Also, there seems to be a several hotels under $100. Do we want to try to stay at the same one? If so, any suggestions. It would be more fun if we were at the same place and good get together for dinner, too!
I am available and to spend the night. I have no idea when my sailor will come home, we are hoping for July, since his squadron is not deploying in July anymore because of the cut backs.
I keep telling him July, and he says I am not sure yet lol.
Count me in
