Becky,   I just got back from visiting my sister in Houston,TX and will be going to meet the ship my son is deployed on soon and I feel like a world traveler.!LOL. Between two airports I managed to have to stand in the scanner, got patted down, and had to remove my hair pins although it wasn't that setting off the alarm! Was the buckle on my skirt. As I was putting my hair back up and a man next to me was putting on his belt and shoes I asked him if he "felt like we were all just getting a little too familiar with each other." :) LOL He said, "9/11 bringing us all closer together." LOL and told me to have a good day. Felt like I should have at least asked his first name. Ha Ha Ha

Well Becky, you went at the right time.....the weather here sucks! It rained yesterday, cold and windy today but the sun is SUPPOSE to come out....guess we'll see....I was suppose to go see our grand daughter today but the doctor told me not to, so Todd, Jessica, Brandon and the kids are going, while I sit here staring at the four walls....:-( I'm so sad about it since SHE hasn't let us see her since Chris deployed.....Last time we say her was in early May.....:-(

Becky,  How was your trip? You were in Nova Scotia for awhile. I'm jealous. :)

Marine navy mom - I think you are definitely right with the I-Pad.  My son's birthday is this Saturday and I have sent him the new Droid Bionic phone.  She should be able to use that phone almost like a computer.  I have the I-Phone4 and keep up with my email with him, send him pictures, etc.  I think (if he ever gets it - I sent it over 3 weeks ago) he will really like it.  He wanted the Droid over the I-Phone..only he can't watch movies on his phone unless he downloads them.  I sent him several movies also - he can play them on his laptop.  I don't know much about I-Pads, I will have to check into them (for myself!!!).

My son is getting settled in at A school.  I got a phone call from him Tuesday night at 10:30 pm. There's a 3 hour time difference for us. So happy he has his cell phone and can call occasionally.  He's is in a dorm room by himself for now but will gain a roommate this weekend when the 10/7 PIR group heads out there.

For those of you that are new Navy moms as I am, I have found the best thing for your sailor to have is their own laptop.  They get email a lot quicker than a letter in the mail...They can use this in A-School and when they get to their base.  My son has his with him on his ship and when he has a chance and picks up internet or WiFi he can email.  I actually got to Skype with him the other day...It was so good to actually see him......Of course he has to be very careful what is said..no locations or what he is actually doing out there, but hearing from him lets you know he is safe...
