Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of December (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have December ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in December, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

My son R was sworn in by my husband  yesterday at MEPS and shipped out yesterday afternoon. He arrived safely and sounded good and happy on the phone from boot camp. This is our third time!. This is actually my oldest son. The youngest went in first. He is in South Carolina and my middle son is deployed. Just remember no news is good news! It is hard on us moms and families but graduation is so much fun!

I just dropped my daughter off to the recruiter, it was not easy. I did hold it together until i came home, all her stuff is still around slippers, gym shorts etc... My house is so quiet as she was my last child to leave. Tomorrow I go to Boston to see her perform her final oath. I am so happy for her but sad for me that's pretty badd well it is so good to know I'm not the one going thru this God bless us all

My son just drove off with his recruiter.  Meps tomorrow then flying out right after.  He was smilng as he went down the drive.  I feel better knowing how joyful he feels right now.  I just picked up a pair of his shoes and that made me cry, but am happy he is doing just what he wants.  missy0922, our recruiter told us that not all recruits use all their tickets.  Ask you son to ask around.  There should be extra tickets somewhere.  Blessings to all.

My son is at MEPS right now - getting ready to be sworn in! He will be going to BC this evening :) He is texting me letting me know what's going on - love that he will have his cell phone until tonight :)

Missy0922...don't worry (yeah right)...your son is in great hands. He may be scared, and mostly because he is away from home and this is something so new and different but he will do great! My nephew went in last year (Oct 2011). He had never been away from home and the first few weeks were tough but he did so well and his 2nd letter home was so different than the first! Now he is out on an Air Craft Carrier in the middle of the ocean working and visiting new places! Take a deep breath and trust God that above all, HE will be taking care of your boy and bring him comfort when you can't :)

My son left for MEPS in Milwaukee this morning, going to boot camp tomorrow 12/12/12.  We are going to go to Milwaukee and take him out for dinner tonight, but the house is weird already, since he really cleaned out his room.  It's hard to think that he's not just moving out, but moving  FAR out.

My SR leaves for MEPS tomorrow and BC on the 13th.  Anyone else out there in the same boat?

Z's Mom......my son arrived last night an I got the call around 10:40.  He sounded scared and the call was very short!  Seemed like someone was listening to his every word on that end.  I told him I was praying for him and his voice broke when he said thank you.......normally his response would have been I know you are mom.....don't stop.  I am very disturbed that guests are being limited....my husband and our 2 daughters will make 4--so how do we decide who doesn't get to go??????

I take my son to the recruiter at 3pm today.  He leaves for BC tomorrow, not sure how this is going to go, I feel like someone is ripping my heart in two.Every day seems to get harder.
