Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of December (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have December ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in December, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.
Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)
**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

wow! reading all your messages is so tough, so here are my thoughts my daughter is 19 soon to turn 20 in bc to boot and I will drop her off tuesday morning :( however we raise our children to grow up to be strong, independent, and responsible adults, so... now she is ready to leave our nest; her wings are strong enough to fly solo.
Awwwww - praying for you all that have said good-bye in the past few days! My son leaves Tues and I am looking forward to our last "long" phone call. (He lives in Texas and I am in FL). I tear up at all kinds of things but it is more from the pride aspect now - as I have not lived in the same state as my son for 1 1/2 years...I went through the emotional time of him leaving the house a few years ago (I cried everyday for 3 months straight!!) - I have gotten used to him not being around everyday but I sooooo look forward to the phone calls! It gets easier but it takes time for sure! This is so different though - letting our children go because they are going into the Military - in 8 short weeks our children will change and grow so much! I believe every moment is worth it though and cannot wait to see my boy at PIR!!!
Missy,
I am usually really strong, but that was so hard. I didn't expect to be emotional either. I wanted to be strong for him, and his little brother - but seeing them both break down ended it for me. I hope we can go to PIR!!
We leave in an hour to take our son to the recruiter......I have been crying all morning....didn't expect to be so emotional, but I am. I am so proud of him, but everywhere I look there is a reminder of him. Next few days will be tough! Looking forward to seeing hime again at PIR!
Recruiter just picked up my son. THAT WAS sooo hard, and I am usually pretty strong. When my son and his little brother were holding each other sobbing - whew.........don't know how Moms throughout the ages have done this......
we are getting a snow storm today. Hopefully my son will help shovel! :) I can't believe it is only 2 days until he leaves. I am not ready but need to be. I start crying at very random times. take care all.
Tonight I asked J. to do the dishes. "I can't, I leave in three days and you'll miss me too much to make me do dishes tonight. You'll just feel bad you made me do work before I leave." He does need to help me move horses tomorrow, and he can't go to bc until both horses and dishes are done. Unfortunatly the world and Navy don't work that way and I will miss him, and I do cry, but I am so excited for him. I'm just remembering to laugh at the funny stuff and hug him everytime I can. Blessings and prayers to all!
Thinking about all of you that are missing your children or are dreading them leaving. I pray that the 8 weeks of BC go by super quick for all of us here at home waiting for PIR! I pray the winter is mild for our children in GL! My son has been in snow once, when he was 12! Otherwise, he has been in the heat of Florida and Texas - his body is in for a shock! He leaves Tuesday! I got to see him last week for 4 days and he headed back to San Antonio to spend the last week with his girl friend and enjoy his last week of civilian life :) Stay strong Moms but cry as much as you need to! You feel better letting it out than keeping it in <3
So, it's the last Sat night here with my son. I didn't know it was possible to cry so much, if I can go 30 minutes without shedding any tears then we're doing good. He is so excited about leaving and starting this wonderful journey, but all I can think about is how much I'm going to miss him.....Weds is just coming too soon.
