Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of December (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have December ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in December, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

It really does help to have someone with some knowledgeof the process. My husband is active duty Army so while the Navy has some differences many things are similar enough that my son feels prepared for what is to come.
At this point we have almost everything ready. The only thing left is to purchase his calling card and pack up his room and get his boxes ready to mail that he wants at A school. My son is putting in his official notice at work this week. He is going to finish up before we go on our vacation for Thanksgiving then he won't have to work his last two weeks when we get back.

Glad u responded Purplemom & bev618! My son is excited (and nervous) too! My brother is a Senior Chief Retired (recruiter) so he has been sooooo helpful in getting him ready for all of this!

BobbysMom - My son will report on the 15th. I have really enjoyed all the information this site has to offer as well. Can't believe we are less than 2 months out with so much to do at this point.

Glad you are able to spend the one year anniversary together! Dec 8th is coming way to fast at this point for me....Holidays are approaching and I am thankful to have my son here for Thanksgiving... it almost seems fitting to have that one and be thankful for him and the time we have left with him before GL. How is your husband feeling about BC? My son is so excited.. lol He is not a morning person so I can only laugh at his early mornings he will edure. :) A little mom revenge hahhahahahahahha

Mamawalrus: I am hanging in there and I am enjoying the last couple weeks we have together! We have alot going on but enjoying each other and taking it one day at a time, I love the support that everyone is giving and hope that I will be able to give support back. We will be married 1 year November 28th! That is a week before he leaves. I have a 6 year old little boy who is from a previous relationship but he looks to my husband just like a dad as he has been around for the past 4 years of his life. I cant wait to see him at PIR and he knows how proud of him I am already taking this step to make things better and I am greatly appreciative of that! We will be sending lots of letters and pictures of course. The time sure is coming fast and I am sure it will go fast as long as we all keep in touch and motivate each other! I am so happy that a site like this is available so we can talk to others that are going through the same thing we are going through! So talk to you soon and lets keep our heads up!

Hi Missydarlin...looks there are quite a few of us now with loved ones leaving DEc 7, 8 and 9th. Time sure is coming fast and I think it is starting to hit me....

Aprul......hagn in there and you will have a great support group with us all. We will experience this together and help each other through it all.. I hear the NAVY is a big family once we are OFFICIALLY in. I have my son leaving and I can imagine how hard it would be to have my husband leaving me. Take comfort in knowing how proud you will be seeing him at PIR and the joy it will bring you and your family!
Do you have children? How long have you been married?
My son will be leaving From Albuquerque

My son just had his ship date moved from March 8, back to December 7.

Looks like I've got some planning to do!
