Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of February (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have February ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in February, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Reminder ~ Do not forget to join your state group. You will find a lot of local support. Within your state group, you can find - or start - a group of N4Ms that want to get together to chat, lunch, etc. in you community (or nearby).

When you get the official letter ~ make sure you join your PIR (date) and/or Division group. Best support ever!

The Box, also known as the Kid-In-A-Box; My son arrived at GL on 9/21. His box was FedEXed on 9/22. We 901 moms received the boxes 2 to 3 days after they were shipped. - so depending on your distance from GL.

The official letter, also known as the form letter, arrived about a week after the box.

I still have my son's box. The cell phone and tennis shoes were removed right away. The clothing remained in the box until we returned home from Great Lakes (PIR). They did get occasional hugs. When he came home for the holiday (7 day vacation), he laughed when he saw it sitting in my bedroom. It is a great place to store all of his letters and memorabilia. The new location of the box will be determined when he comes home the beginning of April. : ) ~ kk

Donovan: Ok first is the box...it arrieves about 1 week after they have left. It has everything that they had on them..that is not allowed in bootcamp...They can keep phone card, address book, stamps, bible.
Then any where between 5 or so days after the box you will get the letter with the date for PIR (graduation), address, information for you about graduation and 4 small lines where they can write something!
The first week or so draggsssssssssss on...so just know it will be coming.
box comes FEDEX so dont takle the UPS driver...I was stalking him..hahaha..
Write letters now....I jot a lil something everyday....Keep it fun and upbeat!!
And know you have a lot of moms to help you through this

Our form letter came a day after the box.

Hang in there, it'll come.

No its so hard....Now i know how my mom felt when I left for bootcamp. I never thought it would be so hard...Now I didnt think it would be a piece of cake...we are so close and talk about everything....So I have a huge chunk of me missing...

But on the flip side of missing her so bad...is that I am so proud of her...Unless you have been through bootcamp you cant imagine what an accomplishment that is. A bunch of cilivian strangers thrown into a group together...asked to work as a team...and do it now....its so akward at the beg...then you do become a team that WORKS....I remember most of the girls I went to boot with...two of them we still keep in contact with...I went to boot in 1986...(wow its been a longggggg time)

Is everyone going to graduation?

O.k., I am so glad that I am not the only pea in that pod. I know about the writing I think I read those few lines 10 times in first seconds.
