Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of June (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have June ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in June, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

MidwestMom, If your son is like ours, he'll miss home and we'll miss having him around, but we are so excited for him to get started on his career and the next chapter in his life! Every time our son meets with or talks to his recruiter, we wait to hear if his date has been moved up. Praying for your son and your family! Wishing you an amazing 28 days with your son before he leaves!

VincentsMom - last week I told you my son wouldn't be able to leave early...famous last words.  His recruiter called today and instead of having 50 days until we take him to the recruiters, he has 28 days.  Thanks to this site, I met his good news with just happiness for him.  If you would have taken 22 days away from me earlier, I'm not sure I would have taken it so well.  I'm taking myself off the calendar, but will try to keep it updated for all of you!

This is my second SR leaving for the Navy.  My middle son left this March and is entering his 3rd week  now.  My oldest son just got his ship date of June 22nd and is in Advanced Electronics, and so that wait begins again.  At least this one is short.  I am not sure if this is good or bad !?!  Lots to do in a short amount of time and then we only have one child left at home.

Welcome VincentsMom!  If you look above, you'll see where we have a June BC Calendar started.  I've added you on the 15th which seems to be a popular day!  If you spend enough time on the various sites within N4Ms, you'll soon be able to answer questions your son and husband don't think of asking!  LOL!  My son would like to leave in May once he's finished with finals, but it is highly unlikely he could do that without losing his rate.  He has just under 8 weeks to go which is soon enough for me!  Ask any question you can think of, scour the various sites, and soon you'll be a pro!

Thank you all for wealth of the information! Our son is supposed to leave June 15, 2011. His recruiter and chief are really trying to get him rolled out early. They've told him to be ready. He is our oldest son, so we haven't been through any of this before and there is so much to know. His recruiter has been great with any questions we have, but we don't always know what questions to ask. It was a blessing when I was referred to this site!

I read this a few months ago on N4M and finally did it. Build A Sign offers free signs to military families. You pay only shipping (which incidentally is a bit high but still way cheaper than buying the sign) Go to buildasign.com/troops. You can order a 2x4 or 3x6 one-sided sign. It's totally customizable. Shipping was $13.89. I also had it hemmed and grommeted for $9.49 because it will be hung outside.

I had originally gone to the site and didn't do /troops and the same sign (without grommets or hemmed) was over $45.00. I read a few comments on other military sites and everyone has said the banners are very high quality.

Please keep in mind the cheapest shipping claims to take 8 weeks so don't wait unless you want to pay higher shipping. My son doesn't leave for bc for over 2 months so I'm ok.

I just ordered today...I'll let everyone know how it looks when I get it.

My son did open an account with Navy Federal and he is in DEP , he is all ready to go we i it all through the mail , very easy !

I heard from one of my other groups that DEPpers can open a Navy Federal bank account while in DEP so by the time they get to BC they'll have their ATM card and account all set up. One less thing to worry about. I haven't looked into this yet though.

As always, thanks JessicaB for the info...although I rather liked the idea of having my son practice ironing by having him iron my clothes!
