Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of June (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have June ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in June, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

I feel so lost. Originally I was not going to join because I come form a long line of military but then you realize that this is your child and it is so different. Son shipped on 10 June. I have his ship and division. I have also got my arrival phone call. The Box came and all I could do was cry because there was everything I saw on my kid the day he left but there was not child, ughhhh. It is weird cause I am so proud of him and his choice but.....Anyway, I know he will be fine but it is nice to know that I am not alone in the way that I am feeling. Thanks N4Ms for being here.

4myboy: The Navy Lodge is very affordable...someone said it was around $65/night. You need to make sure to tell them when you call that you are attending PIR. We got a good deal on the car rental through Budget. Not sure there is a group that discusses deals on here. But ladies are good about posting deals they have found. You may want to search on some of the PIR groups that have graduated already in the "Groups" section and see what they found.

Ok, looking for deals on hotels/car rentals. We want to be there, and will find a way, but financially it will be tough. Is there a specific group who discusses deals?

I was once new and lost too....and some wonderful moms/wives reached out to me. So I'm just trying to give back! I'm still "new and lost" on the mom site associated with where my son now is. So we are all there at some point! It won't be long before you are "mentoring" moms newer than you are.... :-)

Trace, PIR sometimes is on Thursdays, before a holiday, as it was before Memorial Day weekend. But most of them are on Fridays.

nikosmom: Your boot camp info from when you were there sounds "right on" to what I have heard from my son and from others! Sounds like some things never change! :-)

nikosmom, Thanks for the info. That helps alot, all I have been doing is wondering what he is doing untill next week when bc starts. He left on Tuesday the 15th from missouri. These past few days have been really hard and its good to know I'm not alone out there. Been reading everyones comments, you don't know how much that has help my husband and I. We have been a mess since he left on Monday. Everyday is getting better. He's our youngest and the first one to leave home. We have 4 kids 2 girls and 2 boys, the 2 girls are not at home anymore, but live only a few miles away. My other son leaves for college in August, but will be home every weekend. The kids don't understand why we are so upset over ck leaving for the Navy. They all keep telling us he will do fine, and how proud they are of their brother. We know that, but it doesn't help. You N4M has help a lot. Glad we are not alone out there. Thanks again for all the info and knowing it's ok to cry!

Thanks !! I was sure you would know the answer. Thanks for all you help. He already had his wisdom teeth removed long time ago so I was glad of that.

TJ's Mom: When I said "He is still in processing days..." , I meant YOUR son since mine was through with bc a long time ago! :-)
