Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of June (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have June ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in June, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Well I dropped TJ (my son) off at the recruiters office this morning. I did better than I thought I would. He walked in and saluted the flag and ask to come aboard I about lost it. He will be sent to Raleigh today to MEPS and stay overnight and sometime tomorrow he will be flying to BC. He is so excited and that make it better on me. Yes I am one proud Navy mom. I will now start counting the days till I can see him in his dress white’s. I am sure he will be handsome.
It seems like yesterday I was dropping him off at kindergarten, how time flies.
Yes I have had my moments but with God’s help I will get thru this.
I was a little disappointed. His recruiter wasn’t there and one of the others Petty Officers I spoke to about the address, he said they wouldn’t have it. I would get the letter in the mail in about 7 to10 days I don’t think that is true from what I have read.
I may just call his recruiter tomorrow. I want to start writing today.
He did take his cell phone so he is going to call today or tonight and then tomorrow when he get to the airport. I just hope it isn’t a long 8 weeks. I am at work trying to say busy that always helps.
Thanks for listening to me!

One week from today my son goes to MEPS in Nashville. I will be going up there and his brother (who lives in Nashville) and I will be taking him out to dinner. The next day I will watch him swear in and then I will head home. It seems time has just flown by since he signed up. His last day of work was last Friday and he has been spending his time out on his boat and hanging out with friends. I can't complain he is spending time with me also. I have been busy planning a suprise party for him - it is this Saturday. It is Anchors Aweigh themed - the entire family, friends and co-workers are coming. I can not believe no one has let it slip. I know he is looking forward to getting started. I am so proud of him.

Alex leaves for boot camp today 6-15-10. We were with her last night in Charlotte NC and she seems really happy. Not nervous like me. I guess it's the unknown. We tried to spend as much time with her as we could these last few weeks, but the time goes by so fast. I can't wait for graduation so I can see her again.

Hang in there, Trace. It gets a little easier once you get that first letter/phone call, but that may be about 3-4 weeks from now...so stay on this site for moral support!

Praying TJ's mom. This begins the hard part, but hopefully this group and boot camp will help you! Great info and lots of moral support on N4M's so post frequently or at least read them. Good luck to your son!

nikosmom: I think you will be a source of inspiration for the moms on boot camp since both you and your husband went through this. Even though it has been years ago, I'm sure some things never change!

Lion55's mom: I missed the swearing in too...both of them. I didn't realize I could go to them, and I don't think he wanted me to. He joined in another city, but was bussed down here for the MEPS stuff. He wouldn't even let me (and my parents) go into the hotel with him when we dropped him off....to visit him for a while. I think he had already said "goodbye" and felt like your husband...that this was it. I'm so sorry that I have no pictures of the swearing in.. :-(

Well today is the day we have been waiting for. TJ is leaving for BC. I will drop him off at the recruiters office around 9:30 then he will be on this way to MEPs. Tomorrow morning flying off to BC. I am sad but more proud. I will send a note later how I did. We are going to breakfast this moring before I take me. His sister & girlfriend is taking it hard . Just 8 weeks!! Please say a prayer for us today.
