Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of June (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have June ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in June, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.
Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)
**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Has anyone who's SR arrived at bootcamp on 6/11 received their form letter yet? I got a written letter from our son written 6/13, but was sent from their temporary barracks and he didn't say anything about the form letter.
I am new here but my sister says it will be my lifeline for the next couple of months. (She has been there...my niece is proudly serving as a MA in Bahrain.) My son Nick leaves Thursday (6/20). I'm sure you all understand the mix of emotions I'm feeling right now. Proud, nervous, sad, terrified, excited. You name it, it is all there from minute to minute! I am looking forward to getting to know you all!! Now, wish me luck on holding it together because I don't want him to see me cry!
My daughter left June 11, 2013
funny story... I got the box... as you all saw... I cried... then got on here to announce that I had received it!! you ladies are the only ones that seem to understand... any way... when I got on here I read about the BLUE CANDLE... I instantly wanted to get one.. then lemonelephant posted the link... I read it and looked at my mantle.. and there was my navy blue candle burning... I cleaned house this am... lit my candles as usual... put one on the mantle... and as soon as I was setting it on the mantle I heard the truck horn to the FED EX truck it was the box.. coincidence.. but cool story... my BLUE CANDLE is lit!!! I took a pic with my phone but it wont post from it... will post tomorrow... have to send to computer then upload... have a great night ladies
Cool! Thanks so much for the info on the blue candle, lemonelephant.
joshmom, there is more on the blue candle in Blue Candles within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones).

So happy you received your box. Loved the note. I was crying reading it! I never heard where to buy the candle but I will let you know if I do. My son left two days after your daughter so maybe i'll receive "the box" in two more days if not before. I know it probably gives you mixed feelings, happy and sad, to receive the box but always one step closer to PIR. I've already been writing daily so I can't wait to receive his address and his PIR date. Hope you have a great day!
GOT THE BOX!!!! I cried like a baby when I saw her hand writing in it! My daughter left on the 11th. I got her clothes...her wallet, with band aids, moleskin, and the two little notes I wrote her. ( which was suggested to buy from this site.) I got some paper work but not her direct deposit form. out of her wallet she kept her stamps, drivers license, social security card, her $50.00 in cash and her calling card. I even got her airline ticket..lol. she did get to keep her Bible. ( the one issued at MEPS) Which I wrote in and wrote some verses for her to look up for courage, strength, and wisdom. she included a note saying ... Dear mom, Since we have shown up at the processing area we have been cussed out, had officers in our face and made some friends. It has been a very long night so far and we still have many more hours left. So far it has been goo though. I cant complain because it is very interesting. I just wanted to let you know that I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH! Take it easy mom. Love Bre.
TEARS!!!! miss my baby girl soooo much! what a strong young lady!
now I just wait for the form letter... :-)
