Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

For those of you who didn't see StarChild's post on New Moms and the main Dep group, she posted a link regarding BC.  I watched all three video they were very good. Here is part of her post with the link:

Navy Sisters, I am so excited!!! My son just told me that the videos are out of them when they were at boot camp. I saw him and I cried. There are four videos. Go to www.navy.mil and click on All Hands Update in the center. Then click on Visit the Gallery at the left and look for All Hands TV- 2-1-2011. Seeing him and other sailors that I now know brings chills to my body and tears to my eyes. I am so proud that he is a Sailor in the US Navy. The BEST in the World!!

I thought of a good idea for my son, as a going away gift.

www.mypublisher.com/friend

It a site where you can download some of your own pictures of family, friends, sons/daughters and make an actual soft or hard covered book all about them.  You can write a story or have text about each picture or just make each page pictures of fun trips, etc.

A 20 page hard covered book is about 30.00, soft covered book about 10.00.

I spend all of rainy, snowy, icy yesterday making one for my son!  It's turning out really beautiful, will finish it today and hopefully send it off and get it back in time for his party.

Have a good day everyone!  March 9th is coming quick!

Great advice Jessica B!! We have already made the decision to leave our son on our insurance while he's in bootcamp. Do you know if they are covered by the Navy during A school? Or, when does that coverage kick in? My son is going in as a reserve hoping there is a full-time position open when he's done with A school. I don't want him to be without insurance under any circumstances.

Thanks!

ITSN 2BE - How wonderful you got to spend time with your folks!  I'm sure they appreciated you going home to visit before you go to bc.  They may or may not show it but I can bet they are surely PROUD of you!!  As for your bf - It will be difficult for both of you - just remember, if it is ment to be it will - otherwise, think of the wonderful friend you made and move on.  Long distance relationships are very difficult - But you have to keep focused on your own future right now!!  As you of all people know how hard bc will be = you don't need to bring any 'extra baggage'  with you!  Hey, who knows maybe you and my son will meet up - after all you two are the only ones leaving on the 2nd!  LOL  LOL

Will your family be attending your PIR?  It would sure be cool if you and my sons were the same day - I would love to meet you and your family!

Hope you have a great flight back to TX.

My boys will be flying home today also - I pick them up late tonight at the airport.  I cant believe how fast this last 2 wks have gone by - it is a reality check - only 31 days left!

I found myself giggling in Target today...because I bought hello kitty coloring books, to color pages and send to my love while he's at BC...I love hello kitty and it's been a long joke about how many hello kitty items I will receive while he is gone, so in an attempt to get him to smile and maybe laugh I thought this was very appropriate, it will also give me a nice break from the studies!  I'm also going to send him a picture a day of me, since he said he's going to miss my face and the hundreds of faces I make.  Anything fun planned for the "letters from home" from you all?

What is IT?  Sorry, just don't know all the letters yet.  Can everyone spell out what their son/daughter is going in as?  Please?
