Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

ITSN 2BE - I think you go the same day as my son - he is going in as a CTN. Leaves March 2nd.  Is that when you go too?  Where will you be leaving from?

I dont know about you but he cant wait!  I sent him and his father on vacation for the next 2 wks - first time I have been alone for more than a few days for over 20 yrs!!   (I usually have either my son or husband home) WOW it's so quiet!!  LOL

I am truly getting the "empy nest" syndrome! :-(  It is really hitting me - when they get back from vacation he will only have 4 wks left!  I think I will be spending the next 2 wks crying ALOT!  I just hope I get most of the tears gone by the time he gets home as I am SOOOOO Proud of him I dont want him to worrie about me!

Will do! I'll have my parents post some letters or something about how I am doing. They aren't all that good on the computer lol so it may take awhile. If not I should be graduating boot in early may (if I did my math right). You all are great moms! And I wish your sailors all the best as well. For al I know I may meet your kids while out in the fleet.

Welcome soonergirl99...I used to say welcome to the wait but not much left.  A number of us have been hoping for a bubble to keep our kids in so nothing would happen in the long wait we had now it is upon us.  The emotions have been extreme from wanting the clock to stop so we could have more time with them(if we could get them to spend it with us)..to don't let the door hit you on the way out. But everyone of us is here to support not only our kids but each other.  We will get through until the end of May/beginning of June when the last of our kids (I pray) reach PIR.  Prayers for all of us, and thanks to our advisors who will make sure we survive.

There's definitely two sides to a quicker/sooner ship date vs.a 10 month wait.  Not sure which one is better, but congratulations to your son soonergirl99.

WOW how did he get such a quick date? My son took his test last June. And I would not wish the last 10mths on anyone! It is so hard for them to be in limbo. Be thankful for the short wait!

My son has been planning his Navy career since grade school but it went into high gear last week.  Last Wednesday he took the ASVAB and last Friday (yes, just 4 days ago) he was sworn in, signed his paperwork and found out his ship out date for BC is March 10, 2011.  Talk about "some day" Navy career hitting me between the eyes with less than two months from now he is leaving.  Wow!  I'm still in shock from the news that my boy (my only child) will be leaving for BC very soon (too soon!).
