Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

I finished cleaning out my daughter's room yesterday. Its now time for the new carpet to go down. I didn't have the heart box up her clothing or her collectables so I just organized everything, hung all the clothes up that were on the floor in the clost and now it looks great. I will let her go through her stuff to see what she wants to keep, put in storage, give away to her friends, or sell at a yard sale when she comes home for a visit. My husband wanted me to box it all up but I couldn't do it because we are going to use it as a work out room while she is gone, so we put her bed in her huge walk-in closet. I was able to convince him to keep her two dressers in there that way I could keep her stuff displayed. It still looks like "her" room except the bed in not there.

Linda, you are right about it being so quiet with one person missing. I haven't cried in the last two days.

The feeling of losing a limb is gone, I just miss her so much. I am just anxious to get "the box". Hopefully it will come this week.

Take care ladies.....

mikesproudmom I think nurseysis needs to give you some Blackberry guidance! LOL I am surprised that he called home this early also...just depends on the RDC. He may call you during the week in the next week or two for additional information for security checks...they sometimes need additional information. ~ See you soon : ) ~ kk

Sara A ~ Did you call the Recruiter to request the address? They can pull it from a database 48 to 72 hours after arriving at GL RTC. : ) ~ kk

Didn't get the box today. Maybe on Monday.

Still no box. Still waiting. Still crying once in a while. I'm in Ohio so it shouldn't take too long for it to get here. Hope I get the address soon. He never was one for writing letters when he was in college. Always said he was too busy. I'm told they have time on Sunday specifically for writing home. Maybe I'll get a few.

I got an address from the recruiter - only 5 days after my son left! Sent my first letter right away - I'm happily surprised about how quickly they contacted me! Woo hoo!

Mikesproudmom, I can't believe you got "the box" already. I have been jumping up everytime I hear a truck go by. I really don't expect it until the beginning of next week. I starting cleaning up my daughter's room and organizing her mess. The next step is the tackle the dreaded closet. I have to finish it today because we are putting in new carpet tomorrow. It will be all nice and pristine when she comes home for visits. When I first started I felt guilty because I was touching her stuff, but then I realized how much she is going to appreciate it. When it is all done, I am going to send her some pictures of it. She already knew we were doing this and she picked out the carpet. I hope she likes the final outcome.

MamaBear kk's crying advice: Crying in the shower is great! I do not know why, but it works. Try it. Also, it is OK to cry at traffic lights. For some reason that wave hits and those tears flow...you will see.

MamaBear kk's writing advice: Be very very positive. Remind them how much you love them and how proud you are of them. Remind them that the light at the end of the boot camp tunnel will provide them with different experience; A School!

Before my son left, he directed me to two (2) YouTube videos: Sun King Hey Ya and Sun King Pump It. Before and after he left, I would watch an listen...I think they helped pick me up. You can locate them on YouTube or within the videos on N4Ms. They are also on my page. They helped turn my tears to smiles...you will see : ) ~ kk
