Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Hope everyone is doing ok. Today was a much better day. Still aching, but thinking positive helps. I watched some Navy Graduation's on YouTube and cried, but not for being sad, but for anticipation to see my daughter's graduation. Thanks N4M's for preparing us for the next 8 or so weeks. This site has helped a great deal.

anna mac, i know how you are feeling! my husband left just over a week ago and there is this emptiness in my chest that just won't go away. i know eventually it will get better but sometimes it's so hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. i haven't heard anything from him since his 1st phone call and it's eating me up inside. if you need someone to vent to, i'm always around! keep your chin up.. it has to get better soon :)

mikesproudmom ~ You son is allowed 4. He will write their names on the invite list for security. Wait to see the number of divisions that are graduating for Mike's PIR date. If they are not maxed out...there is a space available system. We can explain more of this process on 4/3. The worst that can happen is that the person may have to wait at the visitor center...but probably would not happen for 1 more. : ) ~ kk

PattyCDS ~ I would not even try to estimate. Boot camp is 7.5 to 9 weeks. You will get the official letter in about 2 weeks, maybe less. You will have plenty of time to book your flights and room. My son left with 5 other recruits...they had different PIR dates. : ) ~ kk

So does anyone know if you went on week of March 23rd, potentially we are looking at PIR when? Flights are so expensive from Nevada. and we want to stay as long as I can.
Not even sure if he is Grad N Go. My recruiter has very little information.
I just wanted to say also that we are not sad at our son's departure, because this is a terrific career path, and in these difficult economic times, service your country is so honorable. Everyone wins! Whoo Haaa!

...just stopped in to see if we have any Ohio N4M members that may be interested in joining the Ohio group. If so, we may have an event near you. If not, you will find a great group of N4M members that may want you company in your area. : ) ~ kk

Is it normal to feel like a part of you has been cut off. This morning I felt so out of sorts at work. I couldn't explain it but it felt weird. I work in field of psychology and should know better that I am experiencing separation anxiety, but it was strange. Just wondering if anyone else was feeling like they lost a limb and is it normal. I got better as the day worn on. I decided to write her another letter. It was all positive in the letter and would never dare tell her how I was feeling. I don't want her to worry about me. I did receive a text message from one of her dear friends who is a Marine and serving in Japan. He wanted to know if she really did it. We had a nice conversation and it perked me up.

Recieved Sara's form letter, her PIR date is May 7th one week after her sisters PIR. I guess we'll be staying in Chicago for a week. Can't wait never really been out of Santa Fe New Mexico.

The recruits that left last Tuesday have a PIR of May 7th..So I am not sure when we will have it.

We got our,"I'm here call." At 10:30pm last night pacific time. Funny how that became so important to us. He was calm and just gave the information, like everyone on the site has said. Now the March 23rd DEPpers will wait for our ship and division information and hook up at that site. Probably next week. My thanks to Jessica B-sailor.mom who watches over this site for yourcalming perspective .
