Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Just got "I'm here call". The tears won't stop. Now it is for real. I can't believe I can't talk to her for 3 weeks. Wow, I have done so well and now as I write, I can't stop crying. I called my parents and bawled like a baby. I miss her now more than ever. It's like that call just flipped a switch. I was fine, watching TV and then the call came and I am a mess. I have read all of these posts and I know it will get better. Again I want to thank N4M for this place.

I just found this group! My son left 3/22 and I got the call about 10:30pm. Now, I'm waiting for the mail info and my "kid in a box".

Just got the "I'm here, I'm alive" phone call. I was doing pretty good till now but as I write this tears run down my face and it all becomes so real. I know, "This too shall pass" but this has got to be the hardest thing I've ever had to do.

mikesproudmom ~ Hang in there. Remember I did not get my call until 10:15PM. They usually have quite a lineup and wait process at O'Hare too. I thought about you several times today. Just in case you do not know, his conversation will be very tight and scripted (i.e. may not sound like the son you left at Hopkins today). Do not be alarmed. They have their time limit and instructions. This is going to be tough! You have my number...call me if you need me : ) and see you soon ((((((((((((hugs))))))))) ~ kk

Just got the call. She landed fine in Chicago. She could only talk for a few seconds. I hope she has a chance to call me when she gets to GL.

Lucky .... no word since last night.
This is the beginning of the communication black out I thought I was prepared for. Oh well, he couldn't be in better hands.
The good news is he loves to fly and will probably sleep on the plane. That and eat!

Got a call about 1pm today. He was at the airport waiting to board. Said he'll call when he gets to O'Hara.

Got another call about 5:20. Their on the plane ready and ready to leave. She has a window seat and is not happy about it. She said it's raining and doesn't like to fly in bad weather. I am tracking the flight online. The overproctive mom is really coming out in me.

Received two phone calls from my daughter (cell phone). The first was that she was fine and getting ready to board to bus for the airport. We texted while she was riding on the bus and then she called me about 3 pm to tell me they just left the military lounge and were heading for the terminal. She sounded so excited. She did not want us to come and see her at the hotel last night nor did she want us to be there today because she was afraid I would lose it. I completely understand her decision. I did well last night, better than I thought. I already told my work that I may in late tomorrow because I will not go to sleep until I get the "I'm here call". I am afraid that if I fall asleep I won't hear the phone. Sunday was my worst day with the family coming over to say their goodbyes. I told everyone that I am doing fine right now but I cannot predict how I will be in a day, a week, etc. I am just taking it one day at a time. For all of you had a loved one leave today, be strong for your SR.

Jess's Mom & Sara A .
Today marks a week since my son left to the recruiters office and tomorrow will be a week since his last call. Please know that you will go thru so many emotional moments and they will all be normal. You will hear so many "he will be All right". But no one can understand how you feel except a mother who is going thru the same. I havent received my Form letter or my Kid in a box yet but I already have four letters lined up ready to go. Stay strong an know that you have done a wonderful thing by joining Navy for Moms. This has become my therapy session. Please reach out to me if you need to. A big Virtual Hug for you Both <3 Iris
