Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Hi tamuk23, when my daughter left last week from Sacramento, she had a long delay in San Francisco before going on to Chicago, and I didn't get her call until about 11:30pm.  Do you know what time his flight was due in Chicago or if he had any layovers that may have delayed his flight? I think it could come at any time, and I hope it's soon for you.  I think this is the first of many "Hurry up and wait" moments that we all share. Keep us posted.

My 3rd child, we've all been there.  I was there last week.  This is the best place you can be for support and enouragement and positive people.  It helped me to start writing letters right away.  I have written every single day, just little tid bits about things going on, the dog, the trip to the grocery store.  Things like that, always staying positive.  Even though I don't have my daughter's RTC address yet, it helps pass the time and makes me feel closer to her, as does soaking up all the knowledge on this website.  You have so much support here, and the sadness turns in to even more pide than you already have with each passing day!

my3rdchild, welcome to this amazing journey.  I invite you (and any others who haven't joined yet) to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) (clickable link). There will be a lot of great information and support for you there as well as in your PIR group once it has been created. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members). Arrival and What Happens at the RTC will let you know what is happening for your SR.

My 3rd child, I feel your pain mine left the 20th got his box today and held his dirty clothes and cried like a baby. It will get easier but I still have my moments where all I do is cry. I have a daughter (16) who I need to keep strong for and not let her see me so upset so she helps me through a lot of down times. We are all going through the same emotions you are not alone.

my3rdchild,

I so feel your pain!  My son left one week ago today and I wasn't sure how I was going to make it through the day!  This site has become my new obsession/hobby! So many great stories/people that are literally in the same "Ship" as us!  I am so very thankful for everyone on this site!  My best to your and your family as you start your new chapter of your life!  Best of luck to your SR!

My son left today from Louisville. My big tough policeman husband cried for the 2 hour ride home. It has been a hard day - found his dirty soccer clothes in the garage. and even inhaled the sweaty odor.  I feel better reading all the posts from other moms in the same boat.

Hi Colette and Tallblueks, I was in the same place you are now, exactly one week ago.  The first few days are the hardest.  Although I'm still waiting for my daughter's form letter with her address, the box came quickly.  This is the most awesome site for us moms, I look forward to getting online, just to read more information.  It helped that I started writing my daughter every single day, little tid bits about my day, and lots and lots of encouragement.  My letters are beginning to stack up as I wait to mail them!  Hang in there, even though I didn't think it would, it gets much, much easier.
