Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Back home after dropping my son off at the hotel. We had a lovely last day together and I was doing great until he had to say goodbye to his beloved beagle. I decided I needed to let them have their moment. We got him checked into his hotel and went out for a private dinner, while at dinner our waiter asked what brought us out into the cold. I explained this would be our last dinner since my son was leaving tomorrow morning for Boot Camp. To our SUPRISE, our waiter treated us with a wonderful chocolate cake! God bless everyone for all of your support and continued prayers! Tomorrow will definitely be hard for me but I could not be anymore proud of my Sailor Recruit!

This is a hard night as it is our daughters last night home. She leaves tomorrow for boot camp. Her bootcamp begins March 20. I have been reading many post from previous moms that have their sons and daughters and I want to say THANK YOU for all the positive feedback, all the information and most of all the support in helping us newbies know that in time it will get easier!!!

Yes welcome newbies! I'm glad to not be so wet behind the ears so to speak. Although he has only been gone 2 weeks. Good to have new faces on here; us early Marchers will be veterans by the end of the month! Welcome and believe me ask all the ?'s you want and come here often for support. Hardly ever check facebook anymore.

Good luck to all the moms who have recruits leaving this week.  This is the hardest part, saying goodbye.  My recruit left on 3/7.  As the days go, it gets a little easier & keeping busy helps.  They have made a great decision & all of you should be proud of the young men & women you have raised.  Blessings to all!

Tonight I hugged and kissed my boy one last time during our nightly routine. This time however he squeezed a little tighter and hugged a little longer! I whispered I his ear how amazing he is and how very proud and honored I am of him! I could have not asked for a more loving and devoted son. Love you my T Man... The house won't be the same without you! Love, mom

My son left for BC on Tuesday, March 12 and I have to say things have settled down quite a bit. The weeks prior to him leaving were filled with tears before I went to bed, random moments in my car, and anytime of the day or night. The day he actually left I did not sleep well and when I did finally dose off for an hour, I missed his call. I cried off and on the next few days. I went and had lunch by myself at Islands and was talking with my server who actually made me feel much better. He asked what I was celebrating and I said I needed to get out of the house because I was cleaning my son's bedroom and starting sobbing, etc. He shared with me that he had a similar experience when having to clean out his mother's bedroom after she passed away from cancer. At that moment I realized that my son is still here and why was I being so selfish. That young man's mother was NEVER coming home. I drowned my sorrows with about 5 glasses of Passion Fruit tea and have not shed a tear since, but he is always on my mind. I know that no news is good news and he is a strong young man. Prayers for all our young men and women!

For those of you who have future Sailors who have not yet shipped, be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month Before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC. I also suggest you join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the members) starting with OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes To Your Profile). If you have a daughter who is embarking on this journey, you may also want to check out Women in the Navy, Mom’s of Navy Daughters, and Mom's of Daughters 2. (Each group/Page mentioned is a clickable link.)

Kelley, I hope you are able to attend, but if not (and even if you able to attend), be sure that he orders the DVD of PIR. (His PIR will most likely be 05/24/2103 by counting 9 Fridays.)

Okay, to the moms of kids leaving in March, I am dropping off my daughter on Tuesday and she off to bootcamp. This is going to be one of the hardest days.

I had a little break down this morning thinking about not having my baby girl home. It is really helping me to read all your post and know that we are all proud of our kids but will miss them terribly.
