Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of March (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have March ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in March, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc.Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Comment by lemonelephant on March 12, 2013 at 3:19am: Is there anyone with a recruit in Division 165 or 166? If so, what is the PIR date? I know that Division 164 has PIR on 04/26/2013 and that Divisions 167 and 168 have PIR on 05/03/2013, but I have not seen anyone with a recruit in Division 165 or 166.

Comment by lemonelephant on March 12, 2013 at 12:23am: Rtarbaby, 05/10/2013 is out because it should be 05/03/2013 when counting 9 Fridays and could be the week before because of arriving on a Monday or Tuesday, but we have pretty much decided that is out . I wish missG would have posted the date.

That's what I figured as well, and I believe his recruiter said it would either be 5/3 or 5/10, depending on p-days, possible holds and not factoring any setbacks. I will settle on 5/3/13 for now, I am sure others will get their letters tomorrow and the mystery will be solved.

Comment by lemonelephant on March 12, 2013 at 12:13am: Rtarbaby, I don't think there is an 800 division in TG 24; 800 divisions are often the first in the TG to get a form letter and there have been no postings on here or fB for Division 810. Divisions 157-168 (they end with an even number) plus 924 would be 13, which would fall into the large TG size. No one in PIR 04/26/2013 TG 24 has been complaining about only having 3 guests, so I really do think that would put Divisions 167 and 168 (brother divisions) in the next TG on 05/03/2013.

If you added to 167 and threw in an 800 and 900 div, that would be 13. Not unheard of from past postings, but unlikely. The letter was generic, said the recruit could invite up to 4, but that number can be limited with class size. He only listed his mother and I, so not much to get from that!

Comment by lemonelephant on March 11, 2013 at 11:44pm: Rtarbaby, I'm with you on that being the most likely date, but I would like to see a confirmation from someone in the same division or the brother division, Division 168, because 04/26/2013 is also possible for those arriving on Momday or Tuesday as your recruit did, but that would be a large TG. I haven't seen anyone with a recruit in Divisions 165 or 166 either. (I know that PIR 04/26/2013 TG 24 has at least Divisions 157-164 & 924.) How many guests are permitted? If it is 4, that would confirm that it is not 04/26/2013.

I am figuring 5/3/13, but I am sure I will find out for sure soon enough. He arrived RTC 3/4/13, was suprised to get his form letter so quick, but at least glad to see his hand writing!!
