Hello All! My son gets picked up on the 28th and leaves for be on the 29th. I’m trying to stay positive & encouraging, but my stomach is in knots, & my emotions are all over the place. I’m so proud of him, but I’m going to miss him so much!

My daughter leaves for boot camp on May 29th and I am very nervous! I am so excited for her new adventure in life.

I am praying for all of our kids, and mom's that whatever is going on we may find comfort, healing, strength. Today is Thursday and I all know is that my son is on one of the ships, dont know the DIV, but think ship 2, my heart breaks reading some of the things that other mom's are going through. Waiting is hard, not knowing is even harder. Stay strong families Blessings all around.

Dr. Von I am so sorry to hear this, praying for your Sons speedy recovery. Dr. Von we never want to ever think that this will happen, but being in BC comes many Challenges and being injured, sick, fractured is a hit or miss. Ship 4 is also the RCU-Recruit Convalescent Unit-where sick or injured recruits go to heal and be cycled back into another TG. (See Recruit Convalescent Unit (RCU) and join RCU SHIP 04 DIV 2341 for more information.)

RCU: Recruit Convalescent Unit; where sick or injured recruits go to heal and be cycled back into another TG or to complete BC. Recruits who are moved to the RCU are generally able to make calls every other week (often on Saturday or Sunday), but those calls can be lost if someone in the division messes things up for the division or if the recruit made a call that week following a test or other appointment. Recruits who are sent to the RCU may spend a few days to several months there depending on how severe the condition is. Recruits in the RCU can continue studying and can take academic tests, but they cannot do any physical training and tests until they are declared FFD. Some recruits will rejoin their division or join another division, sometimes in their own TG or in a TG with a later PIR date. This happens most for those who spend 2 weeks or less in the RCU and most often for those who are sent to the RCU in the first few weeks after arriving at the RTC. Some recruits will continue with training when declared FFD either in the RCU or in FIT and then do the rest of training from there and go on to Battle Stations-21 (BST) and then to "A" School or training without PIR. I'm doing everything I can to stay busy, pray, think positive and not worry - it works most of the time.  My son shipped out on the 8th.  I got the "I'm here" call and "the box".  Everyone said as long as I didn't get a phone call by the end of the following week I could assume everything went well and he had passed his physical and was being assigned to a division.  Wednesday - no call, Thursday - no call, Friday my phone rang.  I did everything I could to answer the phone without crying.  I heard my son's voice but it sounded different.  He told me he was in the hospital with a high fever and pneumonia in both lungs.  I tried my best to sound positive and encouraging telling him I was sure he was in good hands and that everything would be fine.  I waited to cry until after I hung up.  He called on Sunday to tell me he was being released from the hospital and was ordered on bed rest for three more days.  He didn't know much else except his graduation would be delayed due to the hospital stay.  His three days of bed rest should have been over yesterday.  Now I have no idea if he has to start all over again or when he will take his physical tests.  I think this will be his only chance to pass and having just recovered from double pneumonia I'm more nervous than ever.  Not knowing is killing me!  I don't know if I should expect a phone call or a letter or when anything might be happening.  The waiting is brutal!

My son left for bootcamp Tuesday morning.  We got the "I'm here" call.  Was harder than expected.  It was so quick and abrupt and I could hear drill sergeants yelling in the background.  Broke my heart not to be able to talk longer with him and gauge how he is doing.

sailorgirlfriend things will be fine, stay positive and busy. the first few weeks will seem like Eternity, but once the communication door opens time will fly bye. in the mean time google or look in hear for all information that pertains to your boyfriends rate/jobe where he may be going to A school, what will he being learning and maybe stationed when A school is done. anything you can find and learn about I gaurantee it will be more than he will know. if you need anything please reach out.
