Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of May (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have May ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in May, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Motherhen- My day left for bootcamp last year on May 25th, It is amazing how much has changed in just 1 year. She was only in DEP for a month. If you or your  daughter have any questions at all please let me know. My daughter is already finished with A-school and C-school and she is an AO based in VA. She is always very happy to answer any questions as well. Good luck to your daughter, I know you have heard this before but if she is prepared physically for the PT it will make the experience so much easier.

I haven't hear of them changing it to just 3 people and can't really see why they would do that. The PIR hall is big enough to hold four guest per Sailor for I believe 16 or 17 divisions graduating. There were 13 divisions graduating last July with my daughter and we took extra guests with no problems at all.

I know that today you are missing your soon to be Sailors very much. And I wanted to show you all how much I care so I wrote a poem to you from your Sailor. If your Sailor could call maybe this is what he or she would say. I hope you enjoy it and have a wonderful Mother's day.Love to you all, LaLa (Lora)

Hi Mom, please try not to worry 'cause
I'm doing really well,
Even though I miss you

And there’s stories I’d love to tell!

I’m laying here in my berth
On a ship that does not sail
Thinking of you on this special day
I hope you are doing swell!.

It’s been a little stressful here
The Commanders love to yell
But, it’s not as bad as you may have thought
It’s not a living hell!

Memories get me through the days
Oh, your cookies I can almost smell,
But the RDC’s would eat them up so,
Don’t send them in the mail!

It won’t be long until I see you
So please try not to dwell
I’ve really come a long way here
I’m emerging from my shell!

I’ll be dressed in white at PIR
To boot camp I’ll say farewell,
My time with you will be well spent
Don’t forget to bring my cell!

I miss you!

I love you!

Happy Mother’s Day!!!

Love, from your soon to be Sailor

@Lucy, nope, never got the call. Let the wait begin. I'll be a little less worried when I get the form letter, I hope.

I too was wondering why there was no PIR for June 24. That will really stink if they have to wait additional time to fill divisions. Here's to hoping for July 1!

@BluAnjel, I get to see those mountains all of the time. We live in Fountain which is south of Colorado Springs. Since hubby began the process of joining the Navy, I've gone around taking pictures of "Colorado Beauty." I've lived here for 20 years, so I'll probably end up with a scrapbook of just what I'll miss from CO. Thinking of doing this for every station we go to.

Still no word from recruiter or mail.... have to rely on God to help me through and to all you lovely ladies out there that keep me encouraged!  Have a blessed Mother's Day!

JLC, I believe that I posted that I wanted her flying under the radar! I spent 23 yrs in the Navy and I know my daughter lol, that is why I posted I wouldn't use it unless necessary.

sailorwifeschu:  I never did get my "I arrived" call....did you?  He got there right after midnight on Thursday.

Capricorna: Thanks!  Still didn't get the call.  Can't imagine why technical difficulties....he had his cell phone and it wasn't dead.  He called gfriend when he landed in Chicago...got on bus...or something...not sure.  Maybe he thought that was enough and just didn't call again.  I know he's there and he is safe but it is SO hard to be home without him being here.  I am proud of him!

xmas,

Have as much quality of time with your son, it will go by faster then you would expect.  My daughter kept saying "I can't believe it is time to go" :)

Comment by ConnieC on May 7, 2011 at 10:54am

I received the address from the Recruiter and I know it could possibly be a temp addy.  I do have a friend who has connections to some of the RDC's but I really don't want to use that unless it is absolutely necessary.  I want my daughter flying under the radar :).

Yesterday was a hard day for both my husband and I.  Our Son graduated from College and she was definitely missed :(

Jessica, I looked online last night and they haven't posted the PIR's yet.  It did say that there wouldn't be a PIR on the 24th of June and I was wondering if she would grad as early as the first!  Fingers are crossed that this might be her PIR, thank you all.
