Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of May (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have May ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in May, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

EliteLioness,

Hang in there!  My daughter shipped out on 5/8 - and it was so hard.  She was so emotional and I found myself stuffing my emotions as to not make it harder for her...until of course that van pulled away with her in it.  Last week we got our first letters and then Saturday morning much to our surprise, she called us and we got 37 mins on the phone with her!  The strength they find is amazing!  Write your SR everyday...I do that and it is therapeutic for me, and she said she loves getting my letters.  I sent the first 3 in a priority envelope since it took a bit to get her address.  Lean in to all that are here to support and get in on the great FB pages too.  It helps to talk about our feelings.  It's like grieving their childhood but rejoicing on their adulthood...such mixed emotions and when you feel like you need to cry - I say just do it!

Thank you so much for the encouraging words. It's been just a few days and I wonder how my recruit is doing, how hard it will be for him. There is so much to learn and read up on. I am very thankful for this support

Ladies No one will understand until they go thru it. My Daughters thought I was crazxy for crying all the time. My husband to my Supervisor didnt understand me. But I kept busy and just thought No News is good News. Once the Communication is open then all will be fine and all the worry and stress will go away. But these few weeks will be hard. Let me tell you that all of this is a test. A test for them and us. The test for them is too see who will get depressed and who will break. Those will get weeded out to say. They must be able to cope with no Communication because there will be a time that they will have no communication if deployed, A test for us to see how we deal with it the same. I know it is hard or harsh but you have to look at it that way. You Ladies will be fine and never alone. Please come join Boot Camp Mom I help out there and if there is anything you need to know or talk about dont hesitate to reach out. My Son has been on his first Deployment already and I have been lucky to see him every 6 months so far. Trust and Believe and strength will carry you Ladies a long way!

EliteLioness, my son leaves tomorrow for the hotel and then Thursday for BC. I’m with you in the emotional rollercoaster. Everyone keeps telling me that I’ve done a great job with him and I should be so proud, which I ao truly am. But this mama’s heart is still feeling a little rough. I’m so grateful for this site and others moms who can relate and understand, not many people in my life do.

It was exactly one year today I felt the exact same. Like the wind was knocked out of me and I couldn’t catch a breathe. We are all in this together momma. It’s a sisterhood. It will get easier, we are all here for you. Saying some extra prayers for you right now.

Heather, if you have not received a call from your recruit by the 10th calendar day after arrival (plus Memorial Day) saying that your recruit is being sent home, then your recruit has passed the initial run test of the PFA and has begun training or will be beginning training that day or soon after. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) and Fitness Improvement Training (FIT).
