Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of September (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have September ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in September, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

So my daughter arrived on 9.28. Found out her DIV is 007. She didn't know her ship yet as of our very brief conversation this afternoon. I'll keep my eye out for PIR info with the info I have now...

Thanks AubreysMom and Jenn. Yesterday was exactly 1 week since she left. This is going alot faster than anticipated. My daughter told me it would be 3 weeks before I would receive a letter. I am so happy! I read the letter out loud to my mom and husband. They are very happy for her as well. I order my telephoto lens for my digital camera. I want to be able to zoom in the the shots for graduation. As for being in the choir, I have no idea if she will be performing during PIR. I didn't know they had a choir.

I'm so happy for all of us. It's wonderful to have someone going through this with you. How often do you get the opportunity to be with a group of people who are experiencing the same thing you are? That's very rare.

So her PIR is definitely 11/18. Her granma was also delighted that she was on the guest list :o)

@Wanda...yea! It seems like your daughter just left. Things are happening faster than I'd expect... Sweet, she is in the choir! And to think you may get to see her perform at PIR as well? Do they have that in the ceremony? I can't wait. My sadness is tinged with excitement for the trip to GL!

Hi Ladies,

For those of us newly to boot camp, here is a facebook link to the recruit center where our kids are. They post pics of events from the divisions so there may be a chance to actually see our own kids in action! Not to mention get a feel for some of the things that do - like "Wacky Wednesdays", etc.

Hope you're all doing well..............

Hang in there Aubreysmom, it will get better. :o)

Well, I am so excited! I got the form letter and my daughter's 1st letter today!!! I was so nervous opening the letter. I wanted so bad to hear how she was doing. I was praying today at work that I would receive at least the form letter to conform that the address I received from the recruiter's was correct. And it is!!! :O) She mentioned that it's tough but it's also fun. She said their commander's are impressed with her group and so they expect more from them. Talk about pressure. Anyway she sounds good and wants to received lots and lots of letters. She said the letters help their morale.

So ladies lets keep those letters flowing!!!

Oh, and I found out she is an Alto in the choir. :o)

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Jenn}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} and {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{itseaya}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}  Well, you've (we've) made it through this hurdle - the toughest one, saying "See you later" and watching them walk away.... I'm glad you've been able to have contact. It certainly helps. I feel more at ease although the emptiness hasn't hit me yet. My staff (a few of them) asked how I was today. My principal came in to give me a hug. My students wanted all the details. They are so sweet and cannot wait to write to Aubrey as well.  Even my sons are mellow and being super cooperative at home. They are regretting not being there on Tues/Wed this week and miss their big sis. All in all, this is creating some much needed bonding on other levels which is a good thing. Still - those tears are looming. There is an empty sadness in my chest that I don't want to acknowledge right now. I'm sure it will scream to be dealt with at a most inappropriate moment :-/

I want to go through family pics and create a mini book for Aubrey to take to A School. But, we all know what will happen once I look back in time............ not ready for that right now.

Hang in there. I hope to continue to hear good words as your sons continue their process today..........

I feel your pain Jenn!  Cody is currently on the plane flying to O'Hare.  Our entire family pretty much filled the room this morning at his swearing in ceremony.  We all did fine there, but the whole plane thing was tough.  He should be there in about 5 hours.

Hi Itseaya - How are you doing?

Thanks Invisible!!  I really appreciate that.  Being on here today has helped me feel normal.  I can talk about my son and not focus on being sad.  So many people have come by my office and asked "how you doing?" or "are you sad today?"  That one actually made me mad - uuhhhh - yeah, I'm sad today.  I'll be a little sad most days.  Of course she is not a mom so I'll try and be understanding.
