Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of September (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have September ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in September, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Nukes&SnipesMom - I think our guys traveled together yesterday. I talked with E last night and he sounded happy to get started. Cheers!

I got the quick "I'm ok" call from my son around 5:50pm California time last night.  He actually sounded great.  The house is much too quiet now that all of my kids have moved out.  His dog (boxer) has been looking for him since he left, and I found her sleeping on my son's bed last night. I feel your pain, TheRocksmom & Nuke&SnipsMom!  Did anyone else's son/daughter fly out of San Diego yesterday (9/9)?

Awe, TheRocksmom, your pup sounds like ours. We have two goldens and they are so depressed. My son arrived last night at GL and I got my call at 10:30 also.  His brother is actually there also, his PIR is 9/18....so I have been through the first few weeks of boot camp (it does suck, but it gets better) and am starting all over again> Right now I am caught between the excitement of having only 8 days left to see my oldest son graduate and the sick, empty feeling I have of hugging my youngest son yesterday at the airport for the last time til his graduation.  It's so tough, but we get tougher ourselves.  We will go through our own version of boot camp :)  It helps knowing what to expect, but it doesn't make it any easier handling it, that's for sure.

Going to MEPS right now to see my sailor off, lay night was already extremely hard.... feel like the walls are closing in on me. I'm so proud just going to miss him so very much. He was so nervous last night, broke my heart. Plus he is sick fighting a cold so he is going to miserable. Any other moms from phoenix area? He has a roommate traveling with him which makes me feel a little better.

I'm am very emotional it seems I can'tkeep a single thought in my head only the memory of my son turning around to look at me as he walked away. I was not prepared for all this crying, even our dog is walking around with his sock in her mouth. Today I will go to Sam's club and. Buy a case of tissues, never been so proud or heartbroken in my life.

My daughter left yesterday too, we're from Central New York. Got her call at about 10:30 pm last night that she will call again in about 3 weeks and we should receive her box in 1-2 weeks.  We feel the same way, don't want her to go, but excited for her future.  This has been rough!  Hugs to all the other moms going through this too.  Stay strong and keep encouraging our children!  Have a great day!

Hi Nativemom my daughter arrived around 9pm as well. Got her call and she actually sounded really good. She's tough so I think she'll be ok and your son, how was he?

Got a call from my son this morning before he went down for breakfast.  He sounded wonderful. I should get to talk to him a good bit before he gets on the plane.  Glad he has a buddy that will be there with him through boot camp and A school.

My husband left sept 1st. Recieved the "box" today , the items that they cannot keep. It was nice to get something but they say don't expect any love notes :(
