Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of September (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have September ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in September, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Ok navy moms... I wasn't able to make either one of my son's swearing ins. But we talked right after and they were not sad or upset I was not there. Because we as moms have been there for them their entire lives. And we made them the amazing sailors they are going to be. We worry, pray, tackle our mailmen, hold our phones close to our chests and encourage and love them through this. They know this. They can feel us there at their side, cheering them on when they don't think they can through another day. Stop beating yourselves up. We are the best moms we can be. We do what we can. Maybe other moms can be at everything. Some moms can't. The moms that can't make to swearings in or pir do not love their children any less than those who can. Love and support one another. I love my sailors. They know this. Yours do too.

When my daughter left the recruiter and my hubby both thought it would be in both mine and my daughters interest that I stay home and she go to maps and fly out because we both were crying so hard. Yes I wanted to go with her put her on then plane and send her off knowing we loved her and proud of her. Its hard when your children leave home and when they are going so far. If that makes me a bad mom for not going that's okay at least my daughter was okay with it and it was best she had a good flight without a lot of tears and she was at ease without worrying about me crying. I love her and proud of her she is my oldest and we are close this has been hard. But she made a good choice. I wouldn't change how we said good bye. I did cry for two days.

There are others like you, MsKnow, who just can't make it.  We live half a globe away, so couldn't make it.  He didn't invite his g'parents to it either.  He didn't want them dropping him up at the recruiters either.  Recruiter picked him up where he stored his car :(  Makes a mom sad, but in talking to him, that's how he wants it.  He didn't want a bunch of tears.  He spent Sunday with as many family as was possible, and skyped us quick as he finished his laundry.  It's not that he's incredible solid, but just not wanting a lot of tears, etc.  I, too, hope there was someone to give your boy a pat on the back and a final good luck as he left.

My son left Monday and his box came today. Hoping his letter comes soon! Sad and thankful that it is a piece of him for me to hold onto.

Thanks 1proudnavymom... I was with my son as he swore in yesterday 9/25 in Phoenix so surprised many kids there without family yesterday. Praying for all the kids going to BC! The videos here made me feel better knowing more about what my son experienced as he got to BC. A good tool to watch them. Keep believing your kiddo will be amazing!

That does make me feel better.  Thank you!  Hopefully there was another mom like you there with Isaac today.

Oh, Ms. Know....We were there with my son for his swearing in...there were 8 kids in his group being sworn in at the same time.  At the end the officer asked who had family there that wanted to take photos, etc.  My son was the only one who raised his hand.  Of course we accompanied my son to the airport and waited with him until his flight, gave him one last hug before he boarded the plane...those same kids...all got on the plane by themselves...nobody there with them...it made my heart break...they literally are KIDS!!  if it makes you feel any better, I tried to talk to all the kids that were there by themselves and wish them luck and safe journeys...I am sure someone there will take your son under their wing if there is nobody else.  We are a navy family and must help each other out.  xoxox

My son is 7 min away from his swearing in and I'm not there with him :(  He lives in AZ and I live in FL.  From what I understand, no one went with him, not even his father.  This makes me exceedingly sad for him to have no one there with him to take pictures or share this special day with him.

My son arrived at RTC on the evening of September 24th. We dropped him off at MEPS in Boise. It was an awesome experience to share the beginning of his journey with him and watch him swear in.Just waiting for the box and letter now. :)
