Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of September (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have September ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in September, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Thank you for the info ladies. You're all the best. I have a feeling that the form letter may be here. We don't have mail delivered to our homes where I live so I'll be running to the post office first thing tomorrow. I received my "KIB" this last wednesday exactly seven days after his swearing in. Was surprised it came so quickly. Looking forward to being able to send him letters.

I'm in there with all you ladies that are crying rivers. Today has been a bit better due to the fact that I've been keeping myself busier. My house should be throughly cleaned by the time my son gets out of BC. I feel you all and pray for our Sailors continually as well as lighting a blue candle nightly. Whatever makes you feel a little better....do it! Even if it does seem a little crazy.

One thing I did for my son that he loved was that I bought the Square Avery Sticker labels and printed small family pics on them. I also did this with his most important addresses and phone numbers. Stuck them all inside his Bible so if anything else got shipped back by accident he will have those.

Honestly AlNavyMom, I prayed and prayed for strength to keep it together, especially those last 2 days- the recruit drop off and the swearing in. I managed to keep it together until the very last min when I hugged and kissed my son goodbye. He was so excited, I wanted to be excited for him, and not make him have to worry about me. I wasn't prepared for the heart ache that followed, but trust me. It gets better. This site helps a lot and so does writing your sr daily. My son has been gone 2 weeks and 1 day, and while I miss him lots, I have gotten through some days without crying!!!

alnavymom....oh BOY can we all relate. I cried so hard/long the day b4 he left I made a river. but I swore to myself that when the next day came for him to leave I would NOT cry! that day is hard enuff for them and they need us to be STRONG for them!. so pray do whatever u need to do but be strong for him THAT day...and then when hes gone.....GIRLLLLL get youre cry on some more! im a train dispatcher (like air traffic control but for trains) & I was sitting at work giving out live track authorities (pretty important stuff) crying up a storm at same time! my job sent me home smh. so if u have a day or 2 of vacation u can use just until u get ur bearings...thats what I would suggest :-)

Today is my last Friday with my son before RTC. It's going to be a hard weekend. Each moment I see him I realize another thing I am going to miss each day. How have you learned to handle your emotions on the last day for their sake and at work following when they leave?

JENN, You may wish to order ribbons to wear to PIR from Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons (clickable link). There is info on her Page about ordering.

Can someone tell me if the form letter comes in the "Kid in the Box" or is it sent separately?
