Hey everyone! my husband has his orders to report to Lemoore on the 14th of August, Im trying to leave with him to get there together. we will be coming from San Diego and I wanted to know if we can apply for on base housing from here or do we have to be there to do it? I was looking at the lincoln military housing and wanted to get some opinions or advice on how to go about this process. Also does anyone know if there is a waitlist or how long it would take to get a house?

Hi Christina,

I can imagine how you must be feeling with a big move ahead of you. It always helps to start, just as you have, with lots of planning. I recommend base housing in Lemoore because I don't think the BAH is really enough to live out in town (unless you're an advanced rank), especially in summer months. I have heard of electric bills averaging around $300 in the hot summer months. Most people seem to really like base housing even though it is not as nice as what I recently moved away from in South Carolina. I can't say for sure if your mother could live on base. With an ID she would have access to the home and you could just not tell housing but I don't think they would find a home with an extra bedroom for her if she is not a dependent. I think she has to be listed as a dependent on your husband's page 2. The wait list is long for base housing so you may have to rent in town until a home opens up. Call the housing office at 559-998-4922 for all those questions.

The schools on base are Akers, and Neutra. They are both highly rated schools and people drive their kids in from off base just to attend. Akers phone: 559-998-5707 and Neutra: 559-998-6823. you can call them to see what you need to do to enroll your child. I highly recommend both onbase schools.

Let me know if you have another other questions. I don't log in often so feel free to pm me.
