Hello Idaho moms! My son is in school in Florida, hear he has more training at another location soon after Pensacola. Then he'll be stationed in Maryland. Anyone else with a Maryland sailor?
Kay really has gotten involved with the Academy life. She has told us she wants to go SWO (surface warfare officer) or Marines ground. I pray to God when she gets to be a firstie and is able to declare what they want to do that she picks SWO. I think eventually she'd like to teach History at the academy. We'll see.
I think it would be great to have a get together, Cindy. Maybe sometime in the spring when its nice and we can sit out on a terrace. We did Bardenay the last time I went for a get together. I think that will work again. Y'all have a good week! Jane
Hey Kim, good to hear from you!. Glad things are going well for you and the family. Hope Alex is enjoying being a corpman. He's in for a wild ride! Kay is doing well at the Academy. She is a "youngster"...their name for Sophomores. She got cleared to go back to Rugby but she isn't playing the line where she was just lifted off the ground and dragged around resulting in an aggravation of her back injury. But she was determined to get back to rugby so she did her exercises religiously and eventually got released. Her coach, told her she won't be playing that front line again...thank god! My recovery is coming along well. Returned to work in mid November with restrictions. I've gotten stronger but still having problems walking. Some muscles that hadn't been used for about a year prior to surgery. I walk well with two canes, pretty good with one cane, and pitiful with no canes. So, I continue to go to physical therapy and hopefully, soon, I'll be able to walk independently. We'll see. Pray for sooner vs. later, OK?
Hope all the moms on the list are doing well. Hope y'all's Christmas was Great!
Hi 6Idahoans....thanks for joining the group. My daughter graduated with honors from her enlisted boot camp. Have they told you what they do for the parents of those graduating with honors? When Kay graduated from boot camp in 2006 they had a seperate seating area for the parents and after the graduation we went to a room to meet the speakers. Mullen was the speaker and when we met him he thanked us for "loaning your daughter to the Navy".
Kim...How have you been doing? Congrats on your grandson! I'm happy to hear Alex is doing well and finally moving forward for him.
Thanks everyone for your well wishes. Have a great day :)
