Hi Michelle.  I am live in Slidell.  My son is currently at A School in Wichita Falls TX.  His PIR was on 6/21/13.  I agree with Pam it is an awesome experience.  You will never experience anything else like it.  Welcome!

Hi Michelle, I'm Pam. My son is currently on a sub stationed in Norfolk, VA. My daughter was on a destroyer also stationed in Norfolk, but was discharged in March. I'm from Anacoco, but live in Minden now. I've been through PIR twice & wouldn't change a second of it, it is an experience to rival no other. If you have any questions, just ask!!

Cody's mom -- I in Baton Rouge, but graduated from Nicholls!  My son is in A School and is currently interested in being on a fast attack sub stationed in Hawaii.  After all of these years of service, does your son have any regrets going sub rather than surface?  Is it everything he thought it would be?

Nice to see this group is talking again! I live in Thibodaux and have been a Navy mom for 6 years now. For those with kids just starting, everyone is correct! Time does fly. My son is a MM1 and a Nuke on the USS Hawaii aka the War Canoe. The only thing bad about being stationed in Hawaii is the distance. He's on a fast attack sub so one day he's there and the next thing you know.....poof... He's gone. We tell each other that we've made it this far we can hold out until he gets out. We went 6 months without communication on one deployment. I thank God for these brave men and women who protect us everyday.

Ladies:  This LA Mom is starting to pack for PIR on 6/21.  I am so excited! My SR's division won Captains Cup yesterday so I got a 30 minute call!  He has an important event on Monday so would appreciate prayers.  I would love it if a group of us in the same area could get together soon!

Marylou:  Hang in there.  The first few weeks are the worst then things get better and pick up.  My SR will have PIR next week!  Please reach out to me anytime.  I will be happy to help in any way.

Hi Suzanne.  I am originally from south of Lafayette.  Lived there for 44 years and worked at Lafayette General.  I am now in Slidell.  I do travel to Lafayette often to see family.  I am now 9 days from PIR and getting so excited!!!!  My Dad was in the Navy and was stationed in Bremerton, WA.  I have old pictures of he and my Mom when they were there.

I'm not in NOLA, but I'm not THAT far. If it's on a Saturday, I'd be glad to make the drive!
