Hi all, just wondering if any of you know anything about Taxi problems with the train station in Charleston. My son came home 4th of July weekend. He went back to GC on the 5th, called for a taxi and none came after 23-30 min. wait. He called again, (same company who took him on Fri nite) and was told they wouldn't come because the police are hasseling them. He had to call his chief and the chief got a taxi to show up. My son is planning on using the train to come home after A school grad on 17Sep and needs a reliable ride to and from the train station.

oneL04--we started our 6 month $200 back a month special back in October 2009...and I know the special was already going on a few months before that...so it may have just been a temporary thing! And yea..there have been changes in management..I usually go to the Community Manager, Kathi Bunch, whenever I needed something done..but just recently found out she left and there's a new lady in charge :/

I asked about the $200 that you get back for living in the old houses when we moved in. The guy said that was a special they were running a few months ago..I told him I didn't realize military housing had "move in specials"...does anyone know anything about this? I suppose it doesnt seem really fair that the same BAH is taken out for the older houses and the new houses, which is why they did it in the first place. We could use that money back in his paycheck! Help :)

There is a Power School graduation Sept. 3rd. The following week starts the next class but as Monday is Labor Day they will probably start on Tuesday with math refresher classes for those that need it and the rest on Thursday with breifings and book assignments. Actual classes will start the following Monday (Sept. 13).This is how the last year or so of Power School classes have happened.

aaronsgirl (&maybe Nicole if this answers your question)- Aaron won't class up until around November. They just missed the cut off of the 6 week group. So anyone after September 3rd will be classing up for Power School in November.

And I can't wait to be in Goose Creek to meet all of you already there. You make it sound like you guys have such a strong support group and it would be so nice to have that in person! Though I much appreciate all the support and help you guys have given me now!

I'm pretty sure it's the end of September. Like the second to last weekish? Or at least that's what I was assuming.. Aaron was supposed to class up then, but was told otherwise. But when he thought he was going to start Power school then... he would have been able to come home for his ten days (after graduating the third) and then start school relatively soon after he got back.

But that's just what I'm guessing... Someone else probably knows better than me :)

MM3 Dobbins wife--we did that too...keep in mind..you are signing a 6 month CONTRACT...so if anyone is planning on moving off base while you are at NWS, keep that in mind. If you break the contract before your lease is up (unless you have official orders), Balfour Beatty charges one month's rent plus a cancellation fee. Also, they were giving $200 back..but I guess they lowered it to $100 now? :/
