Hello
We look forward to hearing about your sailors journey. How he/she likes being an MAA (MA) and which kind of job they are doing and how you are doing knowing what your sailor does for a living.
NOTE: Please help keep our sailors safe. Don't give out exact locations.Example: If he/she is in Iraq you can say Iraq but I would not say the name of the camp or a town near the camp. If they are on a ship don't give the last known location. Although some of that is public we don't in anyway want to jeopardize them.

We're in the clouds, Chris called from Bahrain, 'bout an hour ago. Wheeeeeee! He is really happy. Strange happenings though. . . he's eating BROCCOLI & FISH. Says he's gained muscle mass & dropped body fat. I thought I felt a ripple in the "force"! He's spending time, daily, in the great gym on base & is reaping the rewards. He's got a running buddy, MA First, who's keeping him on his toes (no pun intended). It's nice to have someone familiar who shared "A" school & is with him in Bahrain. Looks like he's found his niche.

janie and chriscwick..., Kelcie spent her 1st two years in the dessert east of San Diego, affectionately known as "Hell Centro", not a drop of water in sight for nearly 2 hours. Now she is on the USS George Washington out of Japan. Hopefully something like this will work out for Stephen and Chris as well. She made the best of her time at El Centro, plus it was only about a 10 hour drive to come home. VERY small command, but lots of sand sports nearby, so she actually enjoyed it. It was the winter home to the Blue Angels (who she could have lived without) but their presence meant that celebrities came on base for rides w/ the angels, so she got to meet some sports figures and musicians, because they always needed to have "security" with them :>)

The grand plan is working, sometimes not how we'd planned. Chris wanted Japan, but got Bahrain when voluntold to go. He's loving it, maybe Japan another time.

Yes Susan Stephen is at Travis. He is attached in Naval Air Command. Funny because he loves ships and wonders if he'll ever be on a ship.

Ladies, SD is wonderful. I spent a week there. Hanging out in the evening is great, shops, art, food & bike shaws. Your MAs can take a trolly down to Old Towe for fun shopping, sights & Mexican food with fresh hand made tortillas! Dinner & a show! The zoo is fabulous. If they can, another neat place to walk the beach & visit Seal Island is LaJolla. Really nice.

Sheila, My son will be stationed at San Diego soon. He is at San Antonio now. I haven't been to San Diego and look forward to visiting him there at some point.

Stephen is stationed near San Francisco. We too went to visit and found the city beautiful as well as the surrounding countryside.

Sheila, my daughters 1st duty station was El Centro, which is about an hour and a half east of San Diego. Yes, San Diego is a GREAT place. It's VERY easy to navigate around in, and after visiting there, I said that IF I ever had to live in a "city", San Diego would be my 1st choice. It's clean, and I loved everything about it!

Monica, we also lucked out with our daughters 1st station only being about a 10 hr drive. She was able to come home frequently during her first 2 years. Now she is aboard the USS George Washington, based out of Yokosuka, Japan :( She loves it though, so I just have to count my blessings that we got to ease into the long distance thing.

Okay Brenda Sue, now I don't feel like I was SO out of touch :>) It is SUCH a wonderful website. I have friends who have kids in other branches, I always tell them to try to find out if their kids branch has something like this.
