Hello
We look forward to hearing about your sailors journey. How he/she likes being an MAA (MA) and which kind of job they are doing and how you are doing knowing what your sailor does for a living.
NOTE: Please help keep our sailors safe. Don't give out exact locations.Example: If he/she is in Iraq you can say Iraq but I would not say the name of the camp or a town near the camp. If they are on a ship don't give the last known location. Although some of that is public we don't in anyway want to jeopardize them.

haha - Mollie, you didn't know about N4M's a little over three years ago because it has only been in existence since March of 2008 (a little over TWO years ago).

Tracye, welcome to the group. Have you connected with your daughters PIR group from bootcamp yet? If not, I highly recommend it. I didn't now about N4M over three years ago, when my daughter went in. Wish I had, it would have made boot camp a LOT easier for me. My daughter loved A school in San Antonio, hopefully your daughter will also. It's a very exciting experience for them. I'll give you a "heads up" early. When you go to her PIR, take her a small travel size bottle of baby shampoo. She will think you are nuts, but tell her NOT to use it on her hair, but hang on to it to use after "OC". Ten weeks later, you will be her hero!!

Morning everyone! Welcome Tracye! I've so enjoyed, & learned so much from these ladies. They are a wealth of info & support. My MASA Chris graduated San Antone this past June. He's even serving with some classmates in Bahrain. His FB page is peppered with new friends from "BC & AS". Makes this relatively new Navy Mom very happy. Your sailor will make lasting friendships & learn even more about herself at "A School". I'm sure you've already seen some changes! When our sailor emailed an OC Spray YouTube spot & said "look what I just did. .", all I wanted to do was kick somebody's.... Get ready for the fun & adventure. Again, welcome!

Welcome aboard, this is a fairly active group and a great support team. She will have a lot more freedom in A school. Study study study is the word for A school.
Good Luck

Hi Ladies! MA Chris (Bahrain) had to wait a couple weeks before his MA classes got started in San Antonio,so nothing out of the ordinary with the wait. After MA school he got "voluntold" to sail the sand in Bahrain, starting just days prior to 2010 Father's Day. We hate missing him, but he's loving his job. : )

Juniboop, "Class up" means that enough sailors have arrived to form a class. Sometimes a Sailor is in "holding" for a week or two waiting to "class up". When they "Phase up", they get more privileges. Even while waiting to "class up" Sailors are doing things that will allow them to "Phase up" so sometimes Sailors in the same class do not Phase up at the same time.

@Cathy-J

Since he hasn't been in San Antonio all that long, they have to "class up" whatever that means LOL. Each "class" comes with more privileges. My daughter was there for a few weeks before she could do some things. She's been there since August 17th and she got to go off base this weekend.
