Hello
We look forward to hearing about your sailors journey. How he/she likes being an MAA (MA) and which kind of job they are doing and how you are doing knowing what your sailor does for a living.
NOTE: Please help keep our sailors safe. Don't give out exact locations.Example: If he/she is in Iraq you can say Iraq but I would not say the name of the camp or a town near the camp. If they are on a ship don't give the last known location. Although some of that is public we don't in anyway want to jeopardize them.

Josh's wife....congrats, that's awesome. Every area that they can excel in is to their advantage.
BrendaSue....I can NEVER remember what "OC" stands for. You are our resident expert. Labor Day IS a federal holiday, so hopefully those sailors won't be G&G, but will get to spend the weekend with their families that come for graduation.
JD's mom and Becky....yep, cutting the oil without adding additional burning to the eyes is the reason for the baby shampoo. Dish soap like "Dawn" is great if they get it on their arms or torso though. JD's mom.....unfortunatley by the time they find out that OC is imminent, it doesn't usually leave enough time for us to mail them the baby shampoo, but if JD is able to get off base (or even check the NEX) tell him to pick up a little travel size bottle to use on his face and eyes as soon as he possibly can after getting sprayed.

Hello Ladies, yes my son started A school with Matthewsmom. I can't believe they will get OC sprayed already. I have the baby shampoo but no address to send it to. It will probably be too late anyway.

I do know that if the Monday following PIR is a Federal holiday - they new Sailors get liberty that day also. Is Labor Day a Federal holiday?

OC spray - Pepper spray, also known as OC spray (from "Oleoresin Capsicum"), OC gas, and capsicum spray, is a lachrymatory agent (a chemical compound that irritates the eyes to cause tears, pain, and even temporary blindness) that is used in riot control, crowd control, and personal self-defense, including defense against dogs and bears.

I have a friend whose Sailor is immune to it. They say that happens in (I forget) something like 3% of the population.

Joshswife, that is great!

Dawn dish soap is actually the best to get the OC spray off, but you don't want that in your eyes--that's why baby shampoo. Anything that cuts the oil works.

Welcome aboard JD's mom. Everyone, I almost think it's better to get the OC over with early on. Otherwise they hear about it the whole time and have to live in dread. It's not fun, but for most it's not unbearable. Some kids do have a reaction to it, and that can be rough on them. The baby shampoo IS the best thing to wash it off, but I think that our MA's think they are to tough to admit that "baby" shampoo could really make it easier:>)

Hi Matthewswife
My son has been in A School for about two weeks or so, he got OC sprayed this past Friday. I heard about the baby shampoo too he didn't use it even though I told him that is what I heard would help. I think they rinsed with water not that it made the burning sensation go away. It sucked he said but they got through it! Your sailor will too!!

I'm the same as jdmom. My sailor just started at A School this week. He gets OC spray on Friday! Ah! I've heard baby shampoo is the best thing for it?
