For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hi MOMOF467, I just talked to my son and I asked him if there was anything your son should take with him. He said the make sure he packs lots of workout clothes (apparently that's the popular thing for MA's to do out there). You could message TYLERSMOM to see what advice she can give you since she said her son is out there now. There's also a facebook group called "Navy Moms and Family Members in Bahrain". You would need to request to join and they will contact you and verify all of your information before they allow you access though. Just remember OPSEC rules - very important.

Hi BigDRock98! Welcome to our big Navy family. When your SR (sailor recruit) got to RTC (Recruit Training Center) he was basically "sorted" into a division or, as they call it at RTC, a "ship". Some ships fill up immediately but some will not have enough SR's assigned to start their training yet. Usually this happens more with the "honors divisions" than the others but essentially, they just have to wait until they get a full class to start (usually not more than a week delay). Once they are classed up, you'll get a letter giving you the details of their PIR date. If you have that letter, your SR has already classed up.
There is a similar process when they get to MAA school but it can take a little longer to class up. Don't worry though, everything will eventually happen, though not always as quickly as we would like :-)

Pardon My ignorance, my son has been in boot camp all of 12 days. He is going in as a MA. Wondering what you mean when you say that your son is waiting at ETC to "rank up". Any education you can give is greatly appreciated.

It sounds like Bahrain is the place!!!! my son is also enjoying his experience as well, he has made some friends, and is doing well.Proud to be a Navy Mom also !!!!!!!

Hi all. My son is in the middle of his MA training
. He's really enjoying the experience and he got his orders. He will be going to Bahrain. Any advice on what to expect or what to bring other than his sea bag? Good luck to all of them. So proud to be a navy mom.

This week my Son finds out his duty station, a little anxious to hear where he will be stationed, A lot of MA's have been going to Bahrain..

Good luck new MA moms. My son is headed to SA after graduation July 14th. I look forward to seeing updates on how they do so I know what to look forward to or not look forward to.
