chriscwick, were you allowed to ever go visit your MA in Bahrain?
Good Morning!
Can any experienced MAA moms tell me what to expect. My son is in A school now. Worried about where he will be shipped. Can anyone tell me some good stories?? LOL. He mentioned Bahrain, never heard of it :( I guess being a very over protected, worried mom, I am hoping he stays in the US.
Yes, you have to put total value of everything on each line. I never worry about weight just final weight and the PO does that.
As for my Username, I made a ceramic elephant when I was in 6th grade that I glazed lemon yellow. I still have it and it gave me the idea for my Username.
Lemonelephant, thank you so much for clarifying that for me!! Did you also itemize the weight and $ value also, as requested on the form? I have to pay more attention when I pack these boxes because I will have to rip this one open now to see what I stuck in there, ha ha. By the way, I have been dying to ask, how did you choose your screen name? :)
Caitsmamma, be general but specific enough that anyone opening the box would agree that what is listed is indeed in the box and you can group items and list more than one item per line. If you ever have to ship a uniform item (a forgotten cover, for example--I've done that twice), list it as "clothing item" not as "Navy hat". I sent a box with items for a birthday party and listed "food items: cake mix, frosting, candy; birthday candles, plasticware and paper goods for party, party favors... You don't have to list every single item. When I sent my daughter (not Navy) her jewelry box, I listed it as "wooden box with decors" and also added something else on the same line. Do make sure the number of separate items matches the contents.
sunshinefam, Once your Sailor is in "A" School and thereafter, you can send care packages as well as letters. You jut have to be sure everything meets the USPS stadards. At BC, your SR can only have letters for the most part. (See Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit for what you can send in BC.)
Hi Ladies, I have another shipping question. I am filling out the Customs form 2976-A and it is asking for a "detailed description of contents, enter one item per line." How specific do I need to get? I loaded the box with dried fruit, 3 different kinds of peanut butter, candy, hygiene products -- I don't even remember what I put in there anymore, much less how much each weighs and what the value is...??
