For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

We look forward to hearing about your sailors journey. How he/she likes being an MAA (MA) and which kind of job they are doing and how you are doing knowing what your sailor does for a living.
NOTE: Please help keep our sailors safe. Don't give out exact locations.Example: If he/she is in Iraq you can say Iraq but I would not say the name of the camp or a town near the camp. If they are on a ship don't give the last known location. Although some of that is public we don't in anyway want to jeopardize them.

Lackland AFB, TX -- 40 calendar days
Hampton Roads, VA -- 50 calendar days
Kings Ba, GA -- 50 calendar days

Ship and shore physical security requirements, crime prevention, military and civil law, antiterrorism procedures, physical fitness training, interpersonal communications, first aid, firearms and physical restraint. Group instruction, classroom and physical training in use of restraining devices.

My MA is also a MWD handler. He loves his job. The training is intense. He was MA, he is a "sand sailor" & is into his third year in service. He started hanging out at his base kennel (out of boredom) he spent months getting to know the life & decided it was his calling. His kennel nickname is "chew toy" & they do get chewed when they play "catch" with the dogs. He got lucky & had great mentors, with backing from both his CO & Kennel Master made it to Lackland & graduated last May. The life is as intense as training if not more so. Dogs train every day, patrol, & search explosives or drugs. The dogs are completely dependent on their handlers for food, water, health, fitness. It is a life. Can you ladies with sailors overseas share the positives or negatives about their assignments? I think he's hoping for Japan because he's heard that a lot of the sailors love it there. I realize you can't go into detail, but just if your sailor likes it where he/she is.
