Hello
We look forward to hearing about your sailors journey. How he/she likes being an MAA (MA) and which kind of job they are doing and how you are doing knowing what your sailor does for a living.
NOTE: Please help keep our sailors safe. Don't give out exact locations.Example: If he/she is in Iraq you can say Iraq but I would not say the name of the camp or a town near the camp. If they are on a ship don't give the last known location. Although some of that is public we don't in anyway want to jeopardize them.

Scanterbury.....our family attended both as well but we live a few hours from Lakeland. That being said, looking back, if I had to choose, I would go to PIR. Now that's just my opinion. MOMOF467 is right that MA graduation is special but it is very short and your sailor will likely get leave and come home the next day.

I attended both. The graduation from boot camp was definetly more formal. The one from MA school was smaller but I was glad I went. You don't have to go and not everyone's parent attended. I got to pin his shield on him which was very emotional for me. if you are able to make it go but if you can't because of conflicts of work, other kids at home then don't feel guilty. He will prob be home the next day.

My son graduates ma next week and unfortunately due to medical restrains i wont be able to attend to pin his badge. (Like he pinned mine long ago) it breaks my heart but fortunately he will be able to fly home for a few days.

Hi. I just came back from the San Antonio MA graduation from Aug. 3rd.  It was a very personable and wonderful ceremony in which they allowed you to take lots of pictures. They even arranged a group picture outside of their quarterdeck. If anyone has any questions, feel free to contact me. I also got to pin the MA shield on my son.

Hello BigD. My son arrived in Texas July 15th for MA school. He has been able to call pretty much whenever. He's been on facebook messenger as well. Now that they have their phones its all hands on. He is in holding I guess due to enrollment or something. I didn't understand what he said. He has asked me to send him clothes and some easy food like snacks. They don't have alot of storage space in their room. 2 guys in a room is very nice. Just like a college dorm but they have a bathroom in their room as well. I have called and texted my son many times. I text him and if he answers then I will call him or text back. Its then when I know he's allowed to talk. Have a great day and enjoy the journey. It's a learning experience for all of us.

My son just arrived at MA school yesterday. Any guidance on what to expect these first few weeks is greatly appreciated. He has his phone but I'm hesitant to call as I don't know when he is allowed to have it or use it. Thank you in advance for your support and guidance to this newbie MA Mom.
