For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Colleen-so sorry about your sailor's assignment. Yep, that's what they signed on for and they can get sent anywhere. I know it sucks for your family as it's so far away to fly for a visit. Hopefully he'll get leave at Christmas?
Linda- not having Joey home for Christmas is tough. Will this be the first time? I'm dreading when it happens to us [and I've been told to expect it] as it also happens to be Paul's birthday. Have you had any communication since he's been gone?
Joanne, any news from Kev regarding the flood conditions where he is?

Ugh! Just found out my son will be heading to Japan! I am staying positive for the family but this sucks! I know tis is what they sign for but it does not make it easier. Thanks needed to let that go! End of my whine.

Lindsaysmom-Congratulations to your new sailor! PIR was a wonderful ceremony and I know you must have been so very proud! Grad and go isn't fun - we me our son at the airport at 2 am for a 6 am flight.
Joey is under the sea for at least 3 months. He isn't planning on coming home at Christmas so he can save time for his brother's wedding n April and his own in September. I really miss being able to talk to him whenever I want.
Joanne - your trip sounds wonderful. I'm glad you had such a relaxing time.
I hope everyone is enjoying the fall weather - I know I am!

Lindsaysmom- can you post a pic from the graduation? She was a 'grad and go'? That is hard. She will notice a HUGE difference from GL to TX! They don't treat them like naughty little kids once they leave GL. My son had his A school there and was so happy when he finally left for San Diego for C school and now he's stationed there. He's out to sea now so I haven't talked to him in awhile.

Just got home from Great Lakes and wow what an emotional weekend!! So happy to see my daughter graduate and then so sad to see her leave again but I guess all of you know all about how that feels!! She is in Texas for MA school and so far so good. So good to at least be able to talk to her now! Any dates set up yet for the MD moms to meet up??

guanggao- good to hear from you! It's good that your sailor son is doing well and is finding friends who share his interests. That makes all the difference in the world wherever they are.
Got a quick FB message from my son yesterday. He took the E5 test again. It's a hard test to pass and he will just have to wait for the results to know how he did. The ship is out now so our only communication is a quick message. I don't know how he is- all I got was "alright." As a mom I'm trying to interpret that!
Lindsay must be at GL now- watching her daughter graduate! I'm sure all the waiting will be worth it for her! As it was for all of us.
Hope everyone kept their power last night during the storm.

- Besty, I don't know how to use PM, I therefore send this to entire group. My ET sailor gratuated from College Park last year and took a few gratuate course while wait for Bootcamp. His major is computer. He is the older son and his brother is HS senior. We live in Motgomery county. Both my husband and I work for federal government Rockville. My husband and I were originally from China.
I am looking forward to meeting you all soon.

Lori, my yonger son actural is in Watkins Mill HS whcih is a very short walk from my house. My ET sailor really enjoys the life at GC. He studys very very hard there. He also finds that a lot of his friends there share common interests with him.
