lori- She is doing really well and we are just waiting for the "I'm a sailor" call to come in the next day or two! She didn't sound too nervous about BS, I think just  little anxious about what to expect.  I am expecting this week to fly by! Looks the weather is already turning up there, I looked at the forcast for Friday and it said 57!!

Lindsay- how wonderful she got to call you! How is she doing? Is she nervous about BS? Well count down has finally begun for you! Are they still doing Meet and Greets the night before? This week will fly by for you. Check in with us just before you go if you can. And then when you get back so we can hear how it went.

Joanne- I don't think we've set a date or a place other than it will be towards the end of Oct sometime.

What language is Kev learning?

lori- PIR is 9/13 and I am ready to jump out of my skin, I am just so excited to see my girl!! She did surprise us with a call tonight so that was awesome!! Her div won the Captain's Cup today so she was very excited about that. BS 21 is very soon so we should hear from her in the next few days!! Looking forward to meeting all of you MD moms! Has a date/place been decided?

Welcome M Dunne. I am finally getting a chance to look at our group and see what's been happening. We have been getting a lot of new moms lately which is awesome!

Mickey- A surprise visit from your sailor! Wonderful! So when you got back home were you shocked to see him there? The next 15 days will be nice for both of you. Try not to spoil him to much!!! Did he pick Norfolk? I had hoped my son would get that but for selfish reasons of course! He is quite happy in SD.

Seems like us Maryland moms are spread all over MD. I was hoping to hear from guanggao as she lives the closest to me.

Lindsay's mom- so how many days now? Have you packed your suitcase yet?

My sailor is home!!!!  So happy.  He surprised us last night, and of course I wasn't home when he got here!!!  So excited to have him here for the next 15 days.  Then he is off to Norfolk.  So glad he will be close to home.

Welcome, M Dunne!  It's so good to have you here.  That is very cool that you live close to MD Mom.  :)  I'm Betsy and I live in Carroll County, MD.  My sailor (youngest son of our 5 children) is on the carrier Stennis.  His ship was recently put in dry dock, so he is now shore based for awhile in Bremerton, WA.  They did just get back from an 8th month deployment in May, so those "see ya laters" are fresh in my mind.  We all know how hard that is.   ((Hugs)) to you!

Lindsay'smom, I still get goosebumps when I remember that day!.  It will be the best experience of your life.  I'm so excited for you.

guanggao, my future son in law was also an ET and is now considering going back in the Navy (he got out last summer) to train to teach ET's.  Welcome to our group. We can't wait to get to know you.   I actually did create a MD Maryland Mom's group on FB also, so our new members can join that as well.  Please just send me a pm telling me a bit about you and your sailor, so that I can approve you.

Joanne, wow that is scary about the mudslide.  I think I saw that on the news!  It was pretty scary.  I'm glad that you had a great visit with Kev.  I am heading out to CO in Sept. to see my daughter and her former sailor (and now fiance, YAY! he pop the question and gave her a ring 2 weeks ago).  It's a shame we couldn't have been there at the same time.

Here is the link for those that didn't get it.  It may have gotten lost in the comments.

Hi, I have been following this group for a short time,I live in Frostburg, md and my son is deployed on the uss Nimitz. We lived in Frederick for 15 years before moving here 10 years ago. I would love to meet some other moms of sons and daughters in the Navy going through some of the same things. My son is suppose to come home in Oct. but who knows with what is going on. they have been deployed since March. We have not seen him since we flew to Seattle last Feb. to say our goodbyes. If you all come up with a date I would love to join you for lunch. Thanks

Lindsay- not that you're counting down the days right! I remember the excitement of waiting to get on the plane to GL for PIR! I thought I'd be asked to stop bouncing up and down in my seat I was so excited! We weren't going to get the "I'm a sailor" call till AFTER we were already at the motel. Talk about on the edge of my seat! Battle stations for his div were happening the night before we left but it wouldn't be over till we were actually on our way there. I had that phone glued to my hand from the time we got off the plane. When I got the call I went out of the motel room [my husband was asleep as he had just come back from England the day before we left for GL] and just then a guy with a leaf blower started blowing the leaves! I kept running around the motel trying to hear my son AND have a signal! Ah the memories!

Will you be going to the meet and greet? I met some wonderful ladies I'm still friends with today from our time there.
