Did anyone's recruit leave on the 8th of Feb from this area?

Yeah!-I heard the weather man say we will be "flirting" near the 60s next week! I don't mind that kind of flirting at all!

Oh how horrible.  My prayers go out to his family.

Cindy- this was also posted on the GL site here. One mom posted that her daughter knew the young man as he had been in her div. So sad. I talked to my son as I was reading the link you put up. He had not heard about it. I begged him to be careful. I have seen the station and how you can run across the tracks to get to the train. What a horrible tragedy for this family.

Cindy- I had never heard of that. I made the rice krispies and because I'm not mailing the box till tomorrow i put them in the freezer and then will put them in the box. I don't know how long those things can be out as they do have butter in them. I can imagine the funny looks your Paul got as he opened the box to a slice of bread!

Debbie- that is amazing your son is learning so many languages. I know Kensington quite well as it's not far from us and it's where Paul was a fire man at the station there. What a great mom you are getting all those newspapers to send!

Cindy, oh my, I haven't thought of possible extra pounds.  lol

Lori, thank you.  I have done ok so far today, but I hope to Skype with him after he gets back from his classes at 2300.

Joanne, thanks for the tip.  I would be up for a packing party when I move back to Maryland this summer.

I'm sure the guys love the home made treats. When I asked if there was anything he wanted in particular as I'm sure he could get stuff in the store he said it was difficult to get anywhere so anything we send is welcomed!

Cindy- 3lbs since he was in BC? My son has also put some weight on but he needed to!

Debbie- that is so neat he's learning languages- and what a great idea sending newspapers- where do you find them though?

Betsy- the krispies travel well I have found. Happy Birthday to him and I know it's hard not celebrating with him in person.

lori, I love the Rice Krispie treats idea.  I may just have to "borrow" that idea next time.  :)  My son is a birthday boy tomorrow and it's the first birthday that I haven't had him home with me.  :(

Betsy- I decided just to fill a box I had. I'll probably regret that when I get it to the PO! I was going to do the priority box but I figured it would cost less to do one box then a couple of the prios.

Gonna make some rice krispy treats then send it off! Thanks for the suggestions. Love the boxer shorts idea- how's he going to explain that when the box is open! Too funny thinking about a tough Navy guy wearing those!

lori, that was actually a combination of a few care packages, so the postage was broken up into a few weeks.  When I send heavy things, I use the priority boxes because your postage doesn't change no matter how much it weighs.  My son loves the Twizzlers, popcorn, licorice, Easy Macs, oatmeal, Ramen and any junk food he can get.  lol  He is a Daysleeper, so he eats a lot of meals in his room.  I took everything out of the boxes, to save space in the packing and hoping to reduce the weight.  I love putting them together.  Have fun!  This weeks V'D's package will contain a pair of boxer shorts with candy hearts on them, some Cracker Barrel favorite candies of his and homemade cookies.  :)
