Linda, Woohoo for Joey! That's awesome!
Anna, good luck with your certifications! You are really getting back into things full force, that's great! Enjoy your time with your family this week.
Joanne, I'm so happy that Jason got his leave. I'll be praying for safe travels for him. Enjoy your time with him.
Elaine, welcome back to Maryland! Hopefully we will all get meet you soon. If you get a free day, let us know!
Lori, have a safe journey to NC and I hope you have a fun visit.
Feathered Nest, I apologize as I haven't been on here for a week or so, so I didn't get a chance to welcome you. These are wonderful Maryland ladies and we are happy to meet you. I also work on the PIR groups, so I may "see" you on there too.
I have done my food shopping and I now know that everyone in Eldersburg and Marriottsville did not go to work today. You know how I know? I probably just saw all of them in Martin's grocery store this morning. I bought a frozen turkey and I swear that I was in there almost long enough for it to thaw out, lol.
My youngest daughter (in college) is flying in from New Mexico on Wed. and she will be with us through Sunday. My oldest daughter, my two grandchildren and my parents are also coming for dinner on Thursday. I'm so excited to see my baby girl, as I haven't seen her since August.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and maybe afterwards we can think of planning another lunch either before or after Christmas.
ok - now I've done it. I'm getting re-certified in AED/CPR First aid thru the Red Cross after T-Gvg and then in Feb. Im doing my AFAA group fitness certification. Nothing like paying for a Certification program to keep you motivated! I just don't want to go down with the "aging" ship, you know... and as long as I danced and taught classes...I think I need to do this so I can move forward.
Elaine - Hi! glad you're up and runnin'!
Hi, Maryland Moms. I have just gotten my computer up and running at my mom's house. I know I have missed soooooo much and will be spending today going back and reading what I have missed. I am in Glen Burnie for the time being. We are still getting settled but at least my dogs and cats have settled in at my brother's house in Pasadena with the other half. It is just so great to be able to communicate with the "outside" world again. LOL. Have a wonderful weekend.
ok girls - everyone I have talked to has said their movers "lost stuff" - what is with that? I mean come on...they pack/inventory then load the van...and then what? If it's something they want, Steal? It goes into some abyss? Ridiculous.
Lori - glad y'all get to go to NC Sunday - - the projects will be fun. and yes, we usually drive it in 7 hours. Caleb is good though and we will stop so he can run! :-)
unfortunately we will drive on the highways with the rest of the created world on Wednesday afternoon. Can you girls tell...I'm not happy about that one. guess I'll get over it.
Joanne - work wise, well, I have the most background in the arts and teaching and choreographing dancers... but I also have administrative experience, too. I really don't want to work FT - hoping for that miracle of a job where I can stay PT and vary my schedule.
I have tried to follow everyone's post but just been so busy with school that time flies by.
Anna- we are leaving for NC this Sunday. We were originally going to leave after my last class and I thought I was working on Monday but now- that's all changed and I'm not going to class so we can leave Sunday. We will then get to see our daughter and SIL and most of all [!!!] our 2 year old grand daughter! They live in Wilmington but on Thanksgiving day will drive 2 hours to Adam's parents to be with all his family which should be fun. I love listening to their accents! Where in NC will you be going? That's brave bringing your grand son back with you! It takes us about 6-7 hours depending on traffic. Long trip for little ones. We return next weekend. We are also helping Mel and Adam with household projects. They just moved into a little home [ lease to own- he's waiting for Navy Fed to approve their loan- he used to be in the Navy] and it's an old house that needs work. New floors, paint, light fixtures that kind of thing. Adam is looking forward to cooked meals as Mel works at night and he takes care of Evie. I don't think he does much cooking!
Joanne I really hope that just maybe Jason will get to come home. If Jason showed Dale the cotton candy pics than he'll know how goofy you all can get!
How do moving companies "lose" stuff? It goes in the van and stays [?] there till it reaches it's destination right? How upsetting to have your stuff missing. Joanne that Brio stuff is worth money.
and Linda - just read your post - how awesome!!
Joanne ~
thanks for your update and I really do hope they let Jason go but... well, we all know how that goes. Seems like a fun thing to do to have the recruiter over! I hope he does come :-)
Sounds like right now, no news is good news...boot camp and all.
FeatheredNest ~ WELCOME! Yah, that stinkin' box. I had 3 come my way (one Marine, 2 Navy sons) ...never got easier. but, the PIR is awesome and makes the box look a little better when your pride level soars!
In general... I have begun contacting a few places about working. My "plan" is (now that we are settled) to only work part-time so I can really keep taking care of the hubby, house and grand-kids as opportunity arises.
We go to NC for 3 days over Th-Gvg weekend (spending time with our Marine kids and fam) then come back with our 2 & 1/2 yr old grandson, for a week! So, I get to hang out with my little buddy :-)
We are all splintered for the holiday season. Makes me a bit sad ~ but I know it comes with the passage of time, military jobs and locations being all spread out. Won't get to see my Navy boys until 2013...boo.
The movers "lost" (um well, whatever) my Christmas Tree and a few other things... so I need to go get one. It was a very nice 7' tall fir. Betsy and I went on a field trip to Hobby Lobby in Columbia so I really want to hang the new ornaments on it!
Welcome to the group FeatheredNest. Although it's been about 18 months since my son went to BC, I still remember the kind in the box. And it is still in my closet! My son graduated Good Friday in 2011 - it was cold & rainy. We went out to lunch and the mall, but my son was a grad and go, so we met heim at the airport about 2 am on Saturday before he went to Goose Creek, SC.
How are you doing Joanne? I'm been keeping you & Kevin in my prayers!
Last, but not least, I got the best news today. My son is now a qualified nuclear plant operator!!! He passed his oral boards with no problems. I'm not sure when he will have to report to Washington, but Joey said it is sometime in January. I can't wait until he comes home on 11/21 for Thanksgiving!!
