That picture was on the Stennis FB page, so it's a recent one.
That's Adam's ship, No. 74!
Betsy, meeee tooo! I hope y'all like the Chili!
Anna, so glad to hear that you will be moving in soon. I'm sure it will be so great to get settled in.
Thanks for the recipe. I'm going to try and make it this weekend.
lori - I love to drive around so even if you are elsewhere, I have no problem with an adventure to meet you...or anyone else. I drove out to a "new" area yesterday, took a "scenic" route, and it was so awesome! And YAY for the recent award for Paul!
We get keys to the house on OCT. 5th!! So we will be busy moving for a few days but the 2, 3, 4 of Oct would work for me for a lunch.
Joanne - looking forward to meeting you sometime when you all get back.
My Texas Chili recipe is on my blog http://ministermentormom.blogspot.com/
Joanne, I can't see them either. :( Thank you for the recipe. I will try it soon.
Lori, we have to plan a lunch soon, maybe in early Oct.? I'm so glad to hear that you got home before that rain. I just drove home 5 minutes from the grocery store in it and it was pretty bad. Congratulations on Paul's Shellback! I'll check out the photo soon. That is so cool.
I can wait til Adam gets his. He has crossed the International Dateline so far, and I've heard that they are now 13 hours ahead of us, so I guess they are getting closer to their destination.
Anna, it was wonderful talking to you today and I can't wait to get together.
(I also hope that you will share your mom's recipe too)
Joanne- no photos showed : (
Anna- congrats on finding a house! Wish I was closer to you all.
I just made it home from school with 10 min to spare before the tremendous rain hit. I am so glad I did as my tires don't do well when it's this bad.
Paul texted me a photo of his Shellback certificate. It's a "Golden Shellback" which is pretty awesome. When the Vinson was out on deployment over in the Middle East they crossed the International Time Line as well as the Equator. Going they got the Equator but coming home they got both. I posted it on my FB. I'm hoping to get it when he comes home in Dec so I can frame it. It's really quite beautiful and the words are amusing. For those unfamiliar with the "Pollywog to Shellback" ceremony- I looked it up as Paul wouldn't say much about it. I don't know if it's a secret or just he doesn't like to talk about that kind of thing. It sounds pretty gross to me.
Joanne - I saw that episode of house hunters...incredible! Well, good for him. I think they said he was a retiring 2 Star General...did he serve both with Air Force and Army? Anyway, his wife was picky but for a million dollars, I would be too... Haha! Just not so snotty.
Yes - we found a lease home in Westminster and I was talking to Betsy this morning and seems that I am only 15-20 minutes from you all who live in Eldersburg area! yippee!!
I am thrilled to meet other Navy moms, personally.
Back in Texas, I had a couple Marine moms that I knew but seems Maryland moms are even more friendly and quicker on the draw!
I sooo enjoyed being at Zak's grad last weekend. What an awesome blessing to have several members of our family there and to celebrate the milestone.
So rainy today - but I am hoping that means a little more fall-like weather will follow... I made Texas Chili (my mom's recipe).
Joanne, haha! I thought the same about her. She was a real snob. Can you share your recipe for the salmon dish? My family loves salmon and I'm always up for new recipes.
Lori, hi there! :)
Joanne, I'm so glad your weekend went well and your Christmas worked out! I know you were agonizing over it wanting it to be perfect. Who would have thought a guy would get a kick out of a sewing kit! Having all of your kids together made all your hard work worth it right?
I did not see that episode but it sounds like a tear jerker.
