Lori, I'm so glad that you are ok too.  I heard that Howard County was really bad. My parents still are without power, but thank goodness a neighbor has run an extension cord from his generator to my parents' house.  We are so grateful to them because my mother is on oxygen and also could not go without her window unit AC in this heat.  I offered to bring them here, but they were doing ok due to the neighbor's kindness.  :)

Betsy, we survived and didn't lose power. We are on the same grid as our local hospital so rarely do we lose power. My daughter and her family did, so spent the day with us and I fed them and one of their neighbors. They left when their power returned late last night. Most of the area surrounding us is out. My brother's area is without. Street lights out everywhere with trees littering the road. It's a mess out there. Sorry your daughter's basement got flooded- what a mess, glad that they got their power restored though.

How are all my Maryland friends doing?  Did you all get through Friday night without any problems or damage?  I hope so.  Lots of my family members are still without power, but thank goodness no damage was done on their properties, with the exception of my daughter's house.  They had to stay with us this weekend because they had no power and a flooded basement.  They just left because a neighbor told them the power was back on.  We were fortunate that we kept our power (lines are buried underground) and we just lost our internet connection for 2 days.  Hoping you are all ok.

Lori, they are just underway for a month right now.  They went from WA to San Diego.  I think they get back at the end of July and then they are supposed to go out again in August for a month. They won't be deployed until after Christmas and they are now saying that it will only be about 4 months long.  That would be awesome if Paul was able to come home for Christmas.  :)

Besty, that is good news. So is he on deployment now? What area? I am also hoping to see Paul at Christmas but it might not be right at that day. There are 2 leave times and he might have to take the one that isn't over Christmas. I'll take whatever he can get though as it will be 7 months since I've seen him.

Well, I haven't talked to Adam yet, as he is underway for about a month, but I was able to get some news on the deployment.  One of the moms pm'd me on his ship's group and she said that they will not be going on deployment now until after the holidays at the end of the year.  (Her son called her directly after their all hands meeting).  So, maybe I will get lucky and get my sailor home for Christmas this year.

Joanne, that was such a wonderfully sweet gesture.  Happy Anniversary and many more to come!

I do remember Joanne. What Kevin did is so touching and thoughtful. I know this is hard for you- first anniversaries of a parent's death is hard. Well all of the "firsts" are. And the seconds....

Wish I could give you a big hug.

We had to do that a few years ago- have everything replaced. The hot water heater and heat pump were at least 17 years old. They had lasted longer than most of our neighbor's heat pumps had. We had it done just as things were dying and before it was summer. I hope they get everything done for you by the end of today. Maybe Kev can go to a friends house to shower?

Happy Anniversary! That is so sweet of Kevin! What a wonderful memory that will be. You actually stuck the spoon on the tomb? What did you use? Are you guys going out tonight for dinner- don't think you'll be making it!
