Linda, we should get together since we are so close.  I think we are all due for another lunch again soon.

Betsy - What a wonderful surprise! It sounds like you are settling in nicely. I hope we run into each other sometime soon!

Linda, congratulations to your son and to you.  I can imagine how special that ceremony was, especially on Memorial Day.

OMG, Lori, so how was it?  I'm on pins and needles waiting for pictures!

Donna (MD Mom) Wow, what a whirlwind that your family has had recently.  You son has a great head on his shoulders and I just think sometimes they just know when it is right.  Congratulations on your new daughter in law.  I hope you are able to get to know her better soon.

Well, I've been out of touch on here for awhile. We moved into our new home at the end of April, then a week later we went on a trip to FL & SC that was planned a few months previously.  Our youngest daughter came home from college the day before our trip, so it was great to have that time with her too.

I spent a lot of time with Michelle while she was here (a month) and we did some fun things like shopping, movies, afternoon tea and we even took a day trip on the train to the DC to the zoo.

About 3 weeks after we moved into our home, we planned to have my niece's college graduation party at our house.  Needless to say, we unpacked like maniacs to get ready for that.  There is still some to do, but it's amazing how many boxes you can store in a basement, lol.

We had the shock of our lives the week before my niece's party.  My nephew (her brother) had asked if I would be up around 7:30a.m. on Tuesday of that week because he wanted to stop by on his way to work to bring "something" for the party.  When I opened the door that morning, this is what he brought me.YYep, that's our sailor, Adam.  He flew all night long from WA to surprise us with a week long leave.  We had no idea!  He only told my nephew because he was picking him up from the airport.  It was so awesome!  We had such a great week together and I will cherish those memories.  Unfortunately, there is a down side to his trip because he did say that he wanted to make sure he got home before he finds out if they will be deployed.  (they will find out very, very soon).  They are going out this month on a month's cruise and then if they are deployed, they will only be back in port for a few weeks before they leave.  I'm hoping to  find out in the next few days what the plans are to be.

Thanks to all of the servicemen and women who are committed to keeping our country safe and to those who have paid the ultimate price with their lives to defend our country!

On Friday, 413 Navy sailors graduated Nuclear Power School in Goose Creek, SC.  What a wonderful way to spend this Memorial Day Weekend! We are now home, including Joey.  He will leave on June 6 for Ballston Spa, NY for Prototype (this is the last school in the nuclear program and he will be there 24 weeks).  Here is a picture from graduation. We were blessed with great weather for this outdoor event.

Thanks everyone for all the support.  I'm just making the best out of the situation. Hope to laugh about his "surprise" in the future !

His ship is now at Fleet Week in New York. They are doing a taping for the Live With Kelly show. Dont know why taping, when it is live ?? They had to be there at 10am today. Will be on show tomorrow.

Maryland Mom - That is quite a surprise you got! Hats off to you for being so supportive!

Lori - Enjoy San Diego - it is a wonderful city.

We are in Charleston for Power School graduation on Friday.  I just saw Joey a few hours ago and we are all going to dinner later.

No, I dont know her at all. Since they first saw each other, I have maybe spent5 hrs around her !! With her moving there, I will never really get to know her. Got most of my info from facebook !!  She ended up telling her mom what was going to happen. Her mom saw her packing a dress for the trip and thought that was odd !! They are thrilled to death with Steve. They think he is wonderful. Of course when he came home, he went to her mom & step dads place. So they have spent alot more time with him than we have her.
